Fred Bruner likes to say that he's "the luckiest man alive" but
perhaps he's proof that, with a positive attitude, you can make
your own luck. The son of a strict Baptist minister, Bruner ran
away in his teens in the midst of the Great Depression. He lived on
the streets and "rode the rails" cross country, hopping rides on
freight trains with "hobos" and other folks hit hard by the
economic times. Bruner eventually came home and reluctantly went to
Oklahoma Military Academy. He went on to graduate from Baylor
University and then SMU Law School. Although he was blind in one
eye from a childhood accident, Bruner enlisted in the Signal Corps,
and served his country during World War II. After the war, Fred met
the love of his life, Joy Jean Groves. Together they created a
wonderful life consisting of a huge family and a wide array of
friends. Fred, and his brilliant legal career, has always been at
the center of it all. Bruner's life is full of wonderful stories,
epic characters, and frequent brushes with American history. As one
of the top criminal defense lawyers in Dallas, Fred Bruner's
clients ranged from reckless drivers all the way to high profile
murderers, including the infamous Jack Ruby. To Fred Bruner work
was never just work - there were always new people to meet and new
people who needed help. Fred still lives in his Highland Park home
where, despite diminishing health, he wakes up each morning armed
with the two things that have served him best in his life-a sunny
disposition and his preacher's son's ability to tell a great story.
Musical ComedyCharacters: 4 males, 5 females, plus 2 males
children, 2 female children"They come from several million miles
away, But they are not on vacation, they are here to stay "Several
young campers and their adult counselors are stranded at a
mountaintop wilderness retreat on the night of October 30th, 1938.
When someone switches on the radio to Orson Welles' War Of The
Worlds live broadcast, the night that panics America also becomes
the night that panics Camp gitchiegoomie. Are little green men from
Mars actually surrounding the mess hall, ready to make a mess of
everyone inside? Can the feuding boys and girls work together to
save themselves from the mysterious alien invasion? And why is that
strange hairy, bug-eyed monster lurking in the bushes? This
hilarious, family-friendly musical recreates the innocent fun and
slapstick humor of the wise-cracking, high-spirited film comedies
of the late 1930s, complete with spooky campfires, ghostly shadows,
hair-raising Halloween surprises and the scariest radio play of all
time that nearly fooled the entire nation. The lively, toe-tapping
original songs are fondly reminiscent of the popular scores from
the golden age of the Warner Brothers and MGM film musicals with
plenty of high-kicking, energetic and imaginative choreography in
the unforgettable styles of Busby Berkeley, Fred Astaire and Gene
Kelly. This happiest-of-Halloween musical comedies is guaranteed fun
for the entire family, from the youngest monster movie fan to the
oldest senior who actually experienced that memorable night
breathlessly cowered in front of the radio when the world was
"invaded" by Little Green Men."Move over Annie.' There's a new
musical in town. Watch out, Broadway. Little Green Men are headed
your way." -Culver City Observer"A boisterous musical. The catchy,
innovative music embellished with slapstick humor makes for funny
stuff. The whole family should see this charming play." -The Los
Angeles Easy Reader"Fine for summer camps, high school drama
departments or small community theatres. You may love it,
especially if you like 'cute'." -The Daily Breeze "There's plenty
of tricks and treats in store for everyone on a Halloween eve that
no one will ever forget. It is one of those musical gems that is
funny, delectable, a bit silly, and best of all, very family
friendly. It's safe to know that musicals such as this one still
exist within the theatre world." -Linear Cycle Prods/Accessibility

Piper Wild, a guitar slinging Northwest legend, is back with her
new band, The Wild. Along with her younger brother Buck, a velvet
voiced front-man, their dreams echo the legacy of father Everett,
who once penned a single hit sensation.
But when Piper and drummer boyfriend Skyler make a quick trip
east of the mountains, the unthinkable happens.
Everett does what he can, he drinks.
Buck begins a search that will lead him past music, fame, and
fear, all the way back home to the man he will become, to the
truth.
The author takes a closer look at the tragedy of the book of Job
and finds God's fingerprint of grace on every single page. He
delves into the culture of Job's time to make sense of the
mannerisms of the characters involved in this extreme story of loss
and God's goodness. Many truths that are overlooked and hidden are
brought into plain sight as we discover the frailty, humanity and
flaws of Job. The author takes a look at centuries old assumptions
and applies even older truths of the character of God which tells a
different tale than we are used to. This book is refreshing, funny,
painfully honest and a very easy read. If you are looking for
answers to your "Why's" this book is a must have for you.
Scott Martin Locke is a self-described laborer in thought. Having
spent years in study, he is a man driven by a seemingly insatiable
desire for knowledge. Yet he is not satisfied with simply learning
for its own sake. He reflects, contemplates, and yearns for wisdom
to arise from the words he digests. He thinks about his own
thinking, thereby pondering the nature of consciousness itself. He
utilizes his learning to reflect upon his own life experience and
to strive for self-improvement. In this final part of his trilogy,
one that began with An Adventure in Learning and continued with The
Basis of Elemental Thoughts, Locke stretches himself further,
moving beyond his own questioning and search for self-discovery to
highlight the importance of sharing one's thoughts, knowledge, and
wisdom with others. For Locke is not only a philosopher - he is a
humanist. This is his story.
