A Playbus is different, it does not take you on a journey but offers a place for children to play safely. A Playbus was decorated with bright colours and images to show they were not ordinary buses. The colourful exterior made them stand out. The Playbus colouring pages and information in the book reflect some of the many projects that were or are still around. A bus that is different. Each bus has a story with some of them such as Jay-Jay; Daisy; Sparky and Gloria each with story books too.
Barty was a special teddy bear. He was soft, cuddly and always made you smile. All the loving cuddles had flattened him over time, his nose bent to one side and his paws needed repairing. But he was too full of memories to be thrown away. Thomas had loved Barty but now he was grown up and going to be a daddy himself. Would he want Barty for his new baby? Gloria was once a real Playbus which would provide safe play opportunities for children especillay over the long summer holidays. The original bus was an AEC Regent, which was later replaced by a Leyland Atlantean. A bus which worked alongside the play services in Sussex, it led to other mobile projects. The story of the project and its adventures has led to fictional stories for children. A bus that is different , a bus that stands out, a bus that can bring the adventure direct to where there is need. Play for children of all ages as well a support for families too.
The Real Sparky Sparky the Dragon Bus, JGA 199N, was a project in Glasgow offering play opportunities to disabled children and their families. It was a unique Playbus containing many special features, such as a chairlift from the lower deck, allowing users an access to the upper deck. At the rear was an emergency exit slide. The slide started from the top deck with a large, soft mat on the ground to ensure safe landing. Sparky encouraged many children to come along to the play scheme where they played alongside children of all abilities. Sparky the Dragon Bus was quickly recognised for its valuable service, and even received a royal visit from Princess Anne.
The story of the christmas Play rehearsal and the problems that might be encountered in its production. It is Christmas time, and the school has been getting ready to perform their Nativity play. With lines learnt and songs to be sung, it is time for the dress rehearsal. The teacher knows there might be a few problems to sort out, but at least they will know what to improve on or change along the way.

Together with her children, she had a lot of fun. ; Following the publication of her first books about Jay-Jay her daughter suggested they needed a book for their bus, Daisy. ; The story of Daisy Daydream is based on a busy London bus. The number plates on the story buses are real and Daisy's number plate is JJD 261, which was indeed a London Bus. ; After Daisy's story book was published Sue felt Daisy needed her own book of rhymes too. ; One of the carnival parade themes was 'Nursery Rhymes', this was perfect for Daisy so she decided to take some traditional and new rhymes and add a bus twist. ; She added bus tickets with few bus jokes to make you giggle, or groan.
Once a real bus Jay-Jay the Supersonic Bus has a fictional tale of his own. 'Jay-Jay the Supersonic Bus is a brightly coloured playbus full of toys. He's always ready for adventure, and after an eventful summer the bus is ready for his journey to the carnival. The children are also excited - but what will happen on the way?'
A story based on a, once real, Playbus. The Playbus was a much loved haven for children to come along and play. This is the fourth book about the Playbus and begins with a red London, double-decker bus which is being updated by newer shinier buses. A picture book for children aged 5 - 8 With a theme of recycling the story has a message that not everything old should be thrown away. Any child who enjoys stories about transport will love this and of course will want to find a playbus to play on.
When the children went on a walk to look around the district it led to the class writing a shared story. This is a story full of imagination. Where did the class go and what did they see? What could possibly happen? Many years later, and with a few changes, their story was re-written.
Jay-Jay the Supersonic Bus is a Playbus. Once an ordinary bus left in a scrap-yard he has been converted ready for children to play on. He is able to visit children wherever they are. Upstairs the children can play with toys, read books or dress up in fancy dress clothes. Downstairs the children can paint or draw or even play with sand. A bus full of fun and imagination. In his island Adventure Jay-Jay goes on a small ferry across to an island where the children have never seen a double-decker bus and certainly not one full of toys and games.
A children's fictional story book. Based on a real bus JJK 261 an AEC Regent which was the first Playbus set up to work in West Sussex, England. The Bewbush Playbus has a photographic information book of its own. A much loved bus. As a school teacher the tale was shared with many children until written down as a fictional tale. With many more bus related tales to follow.
