This volume consists of a collection of invited papers on the theory of rings and modules, most of which were presented at the biennial Ohio State - Denison Conference, May 1992, in memory of Hans Zassenhaus. The topics of these papers represent many modern trends in Ring Theory. The wide variety of methodologies and techniques demonstrated will be valuable in particular to young researchers in the area. Covering a broad range, this book should appeal to a wide spectrum of researchers in algebra and number theory.
The papers of this volume share as a common goal the structure and classi- fication of noncommutative rings and their modules, and deal with topics of current research including: localization, serial rings, perfect endomorphism rings, quantum groups, Morita contexts, generalizations of injectivitiy, and Cartan matrices.
This volume contains the proceedings of the International Conference on Algebra, Discrete Mathematics and Applications, held from December 9-11, 2017, at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad (Maharashtra), India. Contemporary topics of research in algebra and its applications to algebraic geometry, Lie groups, algebraic combinatorics, and representation theory are covered. The articles are devoted to Leavitt path algebras, roots of elements in Lie groups, Hilbert's Nullstellensatz, mixed multiplicities of ideals, singular matrices, rings of integers, injective hulls of modules, representations of linear, symmetric groups and Lie algebras, the algebra of generic matrices and almost injective modules.
The volume contains selected articles presented in the ZOOM conference on History of Mathematics in Jain Literature, December 2020, and also contains articles invited by the editors on specific topics. The main objective for the conference was to bring to the attention of historians in mathematics that there is a plenty of literature written by monks and scholars in Jaina literature that contains elements of arithmetic, algebra and geometry, independent of discoveries by other cultures in the past. The talks and the discussions at the conference highlighted a need for a volume that can be recommended as a reference book for a course on History of Mathematics in the Departments of Mathematics and Education in colleges and universities. This is our hope that the present volume would fill up the gap on the lack of knowledge of past Jaina contributions.
