Socially desirable responding (SDR) is an often-reported source of bias in survey interviews. It describes the tendency of a respondent to answer in a way that is socially desirable rather than to answer truthfully. This response bias also threatens the reliability and validity of survey-based environmental valuation techniques such as the Contingent Valuation Method (CVM). Therefore, the study deals with the assessment of the conditions for the occurrence of SDR in CVM interviews. A behavioral model is devised to take into account a set of factors triggering SDR responses. The impact of these factors of SDR on willingness to pay (WTP) responses is tested. The results reveal that the relevant factors do not affect WTP statements simultaneously but rather influence them in an independent manner. These findings can improve future CVM studies by identifying respondents who are prone to be influenced by SDR.

What happens to transnational norms when they travel from one place to another? How do norms change when they move; and how do they affect the place where they arrive? This book develops a novel theoretical account of norm translation that is located in between theories of norm diffusion and norm localization. It demonstrates how such translations do not follow linear trajectories from 'the global' to 'the local', rather, they unfold in a recursive back and forth movement between different actors located in different context. As norms are translated, their meaning changes; and only if their meaning changes in ways that are intelligible to people within a specific context, the social and political dynamics of this context do change as well. This book analyses translations of 'the rule of law', focusing on contemporary donor-driven projects with non-state courts in rural Bangladesh, and shows how in these projects, global norms change local courts - but only if they are translated, often in unexpected ways from the perspective of international actors. Based on extensive fieldwork, this book reveals how grassroots level employees of local NGOs significantly alter the meaning of global norms - for example when they translate secular notions of the rule of law into the language of Islam and Islamic Law - and only thereby also enhance participatory spaces for marginalized people.

Der Bewaltigung dieser Probleme nimmt sich die padagogisch-psychologische Diagnostik an, denn diese befasst sich mit individueller Lernopti-mierung, Feststellung von Lernergebnissen und Verbesserung der Ubergange in ver-schiedene Lerngruppen. Diese Hausarbeit soll eine Introduktion in die padagogisch-psychologische Diagnostik geben. Grundlage dafur sind die einschlagigen Werke Lehrbuch der padagogischen Dia-gnostik von Karlheinz Ingenkamp und vor allem die Einfuhrung in die padagogisch-psychologische Diagnostik" von Helmut Lukesch. Um den Fokus zu erweitern, wurde unter anderem Fachliteratur von Langfeldt, Krapp und Klauer zu Rate gezogen. Neben dem historischen Entstehungsabriss und grundlegenden Definitionen soll auch anhand konkreter Beispiele und letztendlich mit Bezug zum Lehramt die Basis fur eine Idee der padagogisch-psychologischen Diagnostik geschaffen werden.

Es ist der Ort innerhalb des Technikmuseums, an dem lustvolles, selbst bestimmtes Lernen gezielt gefordert wird. Sein Ziel ist es, das Interesse an Naturwissenschaft und Technik zu wecken sowie Jung und Alt dazugehorige Gesetzmassigkeiten und Methoden nahe zu bringen. Mit seiner lebendigen, interaktiv-spielerischen Vermittlung entsprechender Inhalte scheint dies zu gelingen. So ist das Science Center als Ort ausserschulischer und informeller Bildung seit vie-len Jahren beliebt und anerkannt. Es tragt mit der Erfullung dieses gesellschaftlichen Bil-dungsauftrages seinen Teil dazu bei, den in den verschiedenen Studien (z.B. In Fortfuhrung der Tradition der 1889 eroffneten Berliner Urania blickt das Spectrum auf uber 110 Jahre Historie zuruck. Die Besucher konnten hier etwa einhundert Versuche zu Me-chanik, Akustik, Elektrizitat und Optik selbst ausprobieren.
