The Workshop on the Economics of Information Security was established in 2002 to bring together computer scientists and economists to understand and improve the poor state of information security practice. WEIS was borne out of a realization that security often fails for non-technical reasons. Rather, the incentives of both - fender and attacker must be considered. Earlier workshops have answered questions ranging from?nding optimal levels of security investement to understanding why privacy has been eroded. In the process, WEIS has attracted participation from the diverse?elds such as law, management and psychology. WEIS has now established itself as the leading forum for interdisciplinary scholarship on information security. The eigth installment of the conference returned to the United Kingdom, hosted byUniversityCollegeLondononJune24-25,2009.Approximately100researchers, practitioners and government of?cials from across the globe convened in London to hear presentations from authors of 21 peer-reviewed papers, in addition to a panel and keynote lectures from Hal Varian (Google), Bruce Schneier (BT Co- terpane), Martin Sadler (HP Labs), and Robert Coles (Merrill Lynch). Angela Sasse and David Pym chaired the conference, while Christos Ioannidis and Tyler Moore chaired the program committee.

The information infrastructure - comprising computers, embedded devices, networks and software systems - is vital to operations in every sector: inf- mation technology, telecommunications, energy, banking and ?nance, tra- portation systems, chemicals, agriculture and food, defense industrial base, public health and health care, national monuments and icons, drinking water and water treatment systems, commercial facilities, dams, emergency services, commercial nuclear reactors, materials and waste, postal and shipping, and government facilities. Global business and industry, governments, indeed - ciety itself, cannot function if major components of the critical information infrastructure are degraded, disabled or destroyed. This book, Critical Infrastructure Protection IV, is the fourth volume in the annual series produced by IFIP Working Group 11.10 on Critical Infr- tructure Protection, an active international community of scientists, engineers, practitioners and policy makers dedicated to advancing research, development and implementation e?orts related to critical infrastructure protection. The book presents original research results and innovative applications in the area of infrastructure protection. Also, it highlights the importance of weaving s- ence, technology and policy in crafting sophisticated, yet practical, solutions that will help secure information, computer and network assets in the various critical infrastructure sectors. This volume contains seventeen edited papers from the Fourth Annual IFIP Working Group 11.10 International Conference on Critical Infrastructure P- tection, held at the National Defense University, Washington, DC, March 15- 17, 2010. This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 4th European Workshop on Security and Privacy in Ad hoc and Sensor Networks, ESAS 2007, held in Cambridge, UK, in July 2007.

The 17 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 87 submissions. The papers present original research on all aspects of security and privacy in wireless ad hoc and sensor networks and addressing current topics of network security, cryptography, and wireless networking communities. This book summarizes 101 reasons why we love running so much. I hope this book serves as extra inspiration and motivation to meet and exceed running and racing goals. For beginner runners, or people that don't run as often as they should, maybe these reasons can be a wake-up call to be more active.

In the fall of 2006, while deployed to the Middle East in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, I began a letter-writing campaign with fifth-grade students from Eyestone Elementary in Wellington, CO. From their letters of support and appreciation, I would find inspiration through the voices of America's youth. Although I was deployed for four-and-a-half months, the students and I shared letters for nine months. The campaign concludes with a visit to Eyestone to meet the students face-to-face. It was a rewarding and unforgettable experience.
