WHAT IS PHILOSOPHY? Philosophy over the years has been considered
by the average college student as a part of education reserved for
someone doing a doctoral dissertation, and therefore of limits to
them. Whether this has been a reasonable position to take seems, on
the surface, to be a good question to pursue. For in many high
schools philosophy is not taught and so it remains a dark area of
the educational field, which only the brave dare to trod.
Nevertheless, my view of philosophy, when summed up, is that it is
merely a well thought out position coined in several words and used
to state what one believes in, is prepared to live by, does live
by, will die for, and can defend successfully at any intellectual
level. The experts however, offer the following: Norman L Geisler
and Paul D. Feinberg1 in their text - introduction to philosophy,
says; "The logical place to begin is with a definition of this
discipline." However, even the coming up with a definition proves
to be a complex philosophical question. Some experts regard
philosophy as the 'Uno Numero' of all the sciences while others
still don't accept it as a science. Some contend that philosophy
reveals information, upon inquiry, of those things that comprise
the ultimate things of the world, while others don't even regard it
as such a serious discipline of inquiry. Others see it as an
activity of rationality with its central theme being to critically
evaluate evidence of a phenomena but to this argument, some hold
that reason is not essential or indeed there is no pursuit to an
all convincing theme or argument in philosophy.
Thirty-five years ago Roland Barthes proclaimed the death of the
Author. For medievalists no death has been more timely. In medieval
French literature there are no Authors, only authors - and enigmas.
Is the medieval author a name or a function, an authority or an
image? The way we answer questions shapes how we think about names
such as Jean de Meun, Guillaume de Machaut, Jean Froissart,
Christine de Pizan, or lesser-known figures like Gerbert de
Montreuil, Gautier de Coincy, Baudoin Butor, or David Aubert. The
essays in this volume create a prism through which to understand
medieval authorship as a process and the medieval author as an
agency in the making. This book will appeal to all those who are
interested in theoretical approaches to authorship and could serve
as an introduction to medieval French literature for sophisticated
readers. For specialists it delivers an assessment of current
theoretical and methodological issues in medieval studies.
"Theory and Practice of Adlerian Psychology" delivers a
comprehensive overview of the major works and theories of Alfred
Adler, Viennese psychiatrist and founder of the school of
individual psychology. This text presents an integrated analysis of
Adler's outstanding findings and illustrations, which have been
found to be both useful and practical by practitioners in
psychotherapy. Adler's major accomplishments are integrated from a
theoretical and philosophical perspective to help students analyze
the threads of his intellectual and philosophical formulations for
his theories. This fresh and exciting orientation to Alfred Adler's
philosophy and theories is designed to foster research interest on
the constructs of individual psychology (Adlerian Psychology). This
is accomplished by providing an integrated platform for analyzing
Adlerian theories against other prominent theories in
psychotherapy. "Theory and Practice of Adlerian Psychology" is an
ideal text for "Principles and Philosophies of Counseling" and
"Lifestyle Assessment" courses, or anyone interested in learning
more about how Alfred Adler's groundbreaking work changed the field
of psychoanalysis.

Over the last generation, the womanist idea--and the tradition
blooming around it--has emerged as an important response to
separatism, domination, and oppression. Gary L. Lemons gathers a
diverse group of writers to discuss their scholarly and personal
experiences with the womanist spirit of women of color feminisms.
Feminist and womanist-identified educators, students, performers,
and poets model the powerful ways that crossing borders of race,
gender, class, sexuality, and nation-state affiliation(s) expands
one's existence. At the same time, they bear witness to how the
self-liberating theory and practice of women of color feminism
changes one's life. Throughout, the essayists come together to
promote an unwavering vein of activist comradeship capable of
building political alliances dedicated to liberty and social
justice. Contributors: M. Jacqui Alexander, Dora Arreola, Andrea

A gentleman's concept of the game of chess and an insight as to
what playing chess can do for an individual's life in general.
The world has changed dramatically since the Cold War ended.
Instead of a standoff with the Soviet Union, the United States now
faces an uncertain international environment and the new realities
of the long war on terrorism. A nebulous threat, constrained
resources, and lengthy acquisition cycles demand wise choices by
military decision makers. How best to use air and space power in
this new world environment is an ever-present challenge for
military planners as they prepare for current and future
operations. The purpose of this thesis is to determine how military
planners might use current theories, models, and schools of thought
dealing with military innovation to determine whether the US will
field a workable weapon-system. In order to reduce some of the
ambiguity in this process, this thesis identifies pertinent trends
in weapon system development so that decision makers can make
educated choices. An examination of relevant case studies
consisting of one successful and one unsuccessful weapon-system
from the US (F-117 and XB-70) and Germany (Me 262 and Me 163) from
a perspective of military innovation theories and schools of
thought provides a baseline to search for potential linkages
present in successful and unsuccessful aircraft programs.

"At a time when there is so much Despair, uncertainty, Doubt, and
Misinformation in the various Societies that we live in, it is
considered appropiate to publish a readable book that can help to
point the way out off the Wilderness of Despair. This book which
uses Biblical Authority, provides firm Guidance and Hope to all who
will venture to read it.It shows that there is nothing taking place
in This World, no matter where one lives, that God is not in
control off. This does not mean that He causes these thin happen,
but rather through His Will And Providence, He is the answer to
have these things improved in order to make our lives better. He can
Restrict, Prevent, Stop or Allow anything, anytime, anywhere, and
to anybody, no matter a person station in life. No One and Nothing
is outside the Wings and Control of The Almighty Since God is
Omnisicent, Omnipotent and Omnipresent, it is therefore prudent
that we figure out how to benefit from this Revelation. In short, if
something occurs in your life that you did no expect, and this is
causing you pain and suffering, why not turn to the one in charge
of everything to intervene for you ? Why do I recommend this route
and this Person? How do I know He will help you and resolve your
serious situation? Well, because this is what I did in the most
trying time of my life, after trying many "Remedies," when the
going was so rough, and the enemy's fire was so intense. He did not
disappoint me.So today, I am happy to report, that a satisfying
solution was provided by JESUS, to my problem, when I tried Him in
Faith, Believing,"
