This classic photo volume on the North African campaign is a
gripping study of one of the major campaigns of the Second World
War. From the point-of-view of Luftwaffe pilots and crews the
reader is shown the campaign from its outset - from the initial
victories, to the final battles in Tunisia.\nEach arm of the
Luftwaffe is presented - from the Stuka and "Zerstorer" units to
the fighter units JG 27 and JG 53 "Pik As." The various
Fallschirmjager (Paratrooper) units are also covered, as is the
"Hermann Goring" Division which was totally destroyed in the final
battles in Tunisia.\nThis volume includes many action and up-close
photographs of all of the aircraft used by the Luftwaffe - from the
Messerschmitt Bf 109\s and Junkers Ju 87\s, to the Messerschmitt Me
323 "Gigant" transport planes - and also covers the many
personalities, includding Hans-Joachim Marseille whose 151 aerial
victories over the desert are legendary. \nWerner Held is the
author of many books on the Luftwaffe including German Fighter
Units Over Russia, The Messerschmitt Bf 110 (with Holger Nauroth),
and German Fighters in World War II - The Day Fighters & The
Night Fighters (with Holger Nauroth), all from Schiffer Military
History. Ernst Obermaier is the author with Karl Ries of Luftwaffe
Rudder Markings 1936-1945, available from Schiffer Military
History.

54 and JG 77.
Photo history covers the German TagjAger from 1934-1945 with over
500 photos.
In five turbulent years the members of this highly successful
Luftwaffe fighter unit developed into such a close-knit team that
even now - almost fifty years later - that bond still exists. This
unique photo history was compiled with assistance from the air and
ground crews of JG 54.\nThe 400+ photographs document the story of
the Grunherz-Geschwader from its formation in the spring of 1939 to
the final battles in the courland pocket in the spring of 1945.
Within the timespan lay the arduous years of operations in Poland,
France, the Channel Front, the Balkans, Russia, Finland and the
defense of the Reich. \nWerner Held is the author of many books on
the Luftwaffe of World War II including The German Fighter Units
over Russia, and the Luftwaffe in the North African Campaign (both
available from Schiffer Publishing). Hannes Trautloft is a former
Geschwaderkommodore of JG 54. Ekkerhard Bob is a former
Staffelkapitan in JG 54.
The life of Luftwaffe fighter pilot Walter Nowotny - in
photographs, documents, and commentary. Nowotny was highly
decorated for his 258 aerial victories, but was well known, above
all, for his deployment and command of the Messerschmitt Me 262
Erprobungskommando. Later his "Kommando Nowotny" was the first
combat operational jet fighter unit in history (Nowotny won three
spectacular air victories with the Me 262). Factual and neutral,
this illustrated book explores his short life, and is a highly
interesting contribution to World War II aviation history.
