Action thriller by the classic adventure writer set in Africa. It
is no ordinary juggernaut. Longer than a football pitch, weighing
550 tons, and moving at just five miles per hour, its job - and
that of troubleshooter Neil Mannix - is to move a giant transformer
across an oil-rich African state. But when Nyala erupts in civil
war, Mannix's juggernaut is at the centre of the conflict - a
target of ambush and threat, with no way to run and nowhere to
hide...
Action thriller by the classic adventure writer set in the Pacific.
When Mark Trevelyan dies on a journey to a remote Pacific atoll,
the verdict that it was natural causes doesn't convince his
brother, Mike. The series of violent attacks that follows only adds
to his suspicions. Just two clues - a notebook in code and a lump
of rock - are enough to trigger off a hazardous expedition, and a
violent confrontation far from civilization...

As auditors, we are trained to investigate beyond appearances to
determine the underlying facts-in other words, to look beneath the
surface. Whether evaluating the Enron and World-Com scandals of the
early 2000s, the financial crisis of 2007-2008, the Wirecard fraud
in 2020 or present-day issues and challenges related to significant
estimation uncertainty, understanding the auditor's responsibility
related to fraud, maintaining a clear perspective, probing for
details, and understanding the big picture are indispensable to
effective auditing. With the availability of greater levels of
qualitative and quantitative information ("Big Data"), the need for
technical skills and challenges facing today's auditor is greater
than ever. The Louwers, Bagley, Blay, Strawser, and Thibodeau team
has dedicated years of experience in the auditing field to this new
edition of Auditing & Assurance Services, supplying the
necessary investigative tools for future auditors.

How do you remember the seventies? Whether it's as the "Me Decade,"
the heatwave of 1976, or the Winter of Discontent, you'll find
something in these pages to stir up nostalgia for the pop culture
that defined the decade. Cinemas were showing groundbreaking films,
from Star Wars and Suspiria to Smokey and the Bandit, and TV
programming was in its golden age with children's classics like
Jamie and the Magic Torch and the satirical Abigail's Party. Then
came the first-ever video game consoles -- the Magnavox Odyssey, or
the Atari 2600 -- and along with it, Pong. In The Ultimate 70s
Collection, you'll remember (or imagine!) what life was like in
this momentous decade. Filled with fascinating articles and
high-quality photography, take a trip down memory lane and
rediscover the iconic decade that was the seventies!

This unique evaluation of the outcomes of residential and nursing
home care for older people identifies the factors determining the
quality of life of older people who have moved into care homes. It
examines the relationship between older people's psychological
well-being and the kinds of care received in residential homes. The
volume draws on a study of UK care homes, interviewing new entrants
soon after admission and then on two further occasions, to
ascertain their experience of care and their quality of life.
Interviews were also undertaken with care staff and their managers,
and the care environment of each home was assessed. The authors
provide valuable evidence of the factors which can influence older
people's well-being on entering a care home and how they adjust
either positively or not to their new surroundings. The volume
offers clear pointers towards ways to improve quality of
residential and nursing home care.
