Books > Health, Home & Family > Mind, body & spirit > Psychic powers, ESP > Astral projection & out-of-body experiences
From the Introduction: ..". this book is being written for the beginner practitioner. I
will assume your knowledge of the subject is limited and will thus
offer a simple, step-by-step guide to leaving the body. Although
'astral projection' is often used as a catch-all term for any
conscious activity occurring outside the body, throughout this work
I will make a clear distinction between etheric projections and
astral projections (etheric projections being the most common, at
least for me). "By applying the same techniques I use, I believe that anyone
can achieve the out-of-body state on a regular basis and with their
full critical faculties intact. Surely if I can do it, you can do
it ("if you really want it"). It is only a matter of conditioning,
allowing yourself to see the 'door' that you never noticed, to
realize the freedom that you never knew you had -- to edge pass the
threshold and beyond matter." TABLE OF CONTENTS Introduction
Foreword: Brighter than the twinkling stars in the sky, and yet softer than the wool on a baby lamb, the light of God will be upon us in the next life too. Abundantly so with goodness, and much to our delight, we will hardly be grasping it entirely, unless one has been immersed into and has experienced the connecting light while fully maximized. The fear of passing away should no longer exist in our mind. Complicated thinking is all that it is. Just as simple as knowing there is love in the afterlife, that is where our heart and soul belongs. Travel to heaven in the highway of your mind. It is very safe lifting a yielding conscious to achieve exceptional knowledge within the spirit world. Author [self] bio: Greg Belter is an Illinois native, who since at an early age has shown serious interest in the spirit world. Visiting the hereafter is a natural occurrence for him, from the grandiose out of body experiences, to the most splendid heavenly visions each and every day. His words are golden.

This definitive study includes case histories from around the world, as well as intriguing theories about the relationship between body and soul - from general social beliefs about past lives to detailed questions about karma and past-life regression therapy. An outstanding introduction to reincarnation from a historical, scientific, and philosophical point of view. Exploring Reincarnation is the now classic panorama on reincarnation ideas and experiences.
When twenty-one year old Vancouver bookkeeper Laurel Phelan was suddenly beseiged by detailed, violent nightmares of Dark Age Britain, she was frightened enough to seek help. With the help of past life regression, Laurel arrived at a shocking discovery: she had been Guinevere in a past life - A Guinevere so different than the legendary frail queen of Camelot. Laurel travelled back in time to make peace with the woman she once was. As her life flows into Guinevere's we discover the true woman - a ravishing fierce warrior, beautiful, charismatic and dedicated to protecting her people from invaders. Guinevere didn't need to emulate men to be powerful. The true path to potency, creativity and love is to draw on the secret depths of our feminine selves. Guinevere's profound insights resonate dramatically in the lives of women today. "Whether you believe in reincarnation or not, the story of the legendary Guinevere is a beautifully remarkable tale that will leave you breathless for more...Magnificent..." -Cheryl Kravetz, The Lake Worth Herald (FL) "Guinevere presents an intriguing case of coming to terms with the soul's karmic debt...Genuinely engrossing and wonderfully enjoyable." - NAPRA Review "Guinevere is a challenging concept and an intriguing story." - Ellen McGeagh, The Oakland Press (MD)
We can be certain that the body does not survive death. Once the heart stops circulating blood, the brain is no longer nourished and begins to decay. On the basis of medical evidence it would seem that, within a quarter of an hour, the personality is irreparably destroyed and the individual ceases to exist. But now there is mounting scientific evidence for a life after death. In At the Hour of Death, veteran psychical researchers Karlis Osis, Ph.D and Erlendur Haraldsson, Ph.D collated compelling evidence that suggests we, as conscious beings, do survive physical death. This book is the product of extensive interviews of over 1,000 doctors and nurses who have been present when cases of "post-mortem existence" have occurred. Extensive computer analyses of their observations have been made. The results are reported in this first truly scientific investigation of the experiences of the dying at the hour of death. What these doctors and nurses have witnessed cannot be explained away by medical, psychological, cultural, or other conditioning. Yet it may answer the fundamental question of human existence. "Finally, a book that probes death and dying with modern research techniques. Osis and Haraldsson present compelling evidence that the deathbed is the gateway to another existence. The visions of the dying appear to be not hallucinations but glimpses through the windows of eternity." -Alan Vaughan, editor of New Realities Magazine "A major contribution to the scientific study of the question of post-mortem existence. -Raymond A. Moody, M.D., author of Life After Life
Death: The one thing every living thing must eventually confront. This is one of the core life functions over which we have almost no control beyond perhaps being able to postpone the inevitable through healthy living and modern medicine. Death is essential to make room for new life. We are recycled stardust, and our atoms will go on to nourish other living creatures and be put to many other uses throughout the cosmos. In that sense we are immortal... but what about our egos, that which makes each of us a "me"? Do we survive physical death? This book examines many sources of evidence, including mysticism, religion, philosophy, paranormality, physics, cosmology, and neurology to arrive at a startling conclusion that will both affirm and challenge your beliefs about what happen s when we die. As you will learn, those who say that this lifetime is all we get and that everything "fades to black" when we die are correct in many ways... as are those who claim that we do in fact survive physical death and continue on. You will learn how these and other seemingly opposing views are all correct in their own way... and how they coalesce into a logically coherent and self-explanatory vision of a Universe that is truly miraculous in both form and function.
In Explorations in Consciousness, Frederick Aardema, a clinical researcher, provides a profound, in-depth account of the out-of-body experience, during which the explorer of consciousness is able to transcend the boundaries of time and space. In his quest for knowledge, the author seamlessly weaves in his own travels into different fields of consciousness. These include experiences in the personal field, where he is confronted with the constructs of his own psyche, as well as visitations to collective fields of consciousness that appear to have an independent existence beyond the eye of the beholder. Highly original and groundbreaking, Explorations in Consciousness presents a model of reality in which nothing can ever be taken for granted. It proposes that consciousness is embedded within a wider field of possibilities that become real depending on our interaction with the world around us. Regardless of what you believe about the out-of-body state, this book will challenge and excite you to become an explorer of consciousness. It provides you with all the tools you need for your own journey.
This is a true story of what I saw, and what I did when I passed over to the other side and came back. It is my belief that my near death experience and what I learned from it will help others face what none of us can escape when we reach the end of our lives.

Almost one in five near-death experiences are not peaceful suggestions of heaven. In a wide-ranging and far from gloomy look at the other near-death experience, Nancy Evans Bush gives the first comprehensive look at a fascinating but neglected topic: NDEs and deathbed visions of fear, emptiness, and even hell. A wonderfully readable book, grounded in thirty years of experience and research, Dancing is packed with first-person accounts, engrossing discussion and factual answers to a myriad of questions, both religious and secular, with practical suggestions for integrating such an experience or encountering one as a caregiver. Here are ways of thinking about the subject that will be new to many readers. What becomes evident is that to see these only as a terrible threat about death is largely to miss their point. absolutely enthralling literary, adventurous, incisive, informative and smart one of the strongest, most thought-provoking books on the paranormal I've ever seen. Steve Volk Fringe-ology The book is an outstanding piece of work. It is a wonderfully comprehensive and rich history of what can be known and what might be considered about NDEs and] bursts with anecdote and commentary, reinforcing for the reader that there is always another way to see things. Wayne Rollins, MDiv, PhD Soul and Psyche, Jung and the Bible, and other titles Dancing Past the Dark is what we have all been waiting for a must for any experiencer of any type of encounter with the numinous. P. M. H. Atwater, LHD Near-Death Experiences: The Rest of the Story A valuable contribution to the NDE literature and engagingly written. It needs to be seen and read by the wider public. J. Harold Ellens, MDiv, PhD Nancy Evans Bush holds a Masters Degree in Pastoral Ministry and Spirituality from St. Joseph University, Connecticut. She was Executive Director and later President of the International Association for Near-Death Studies and a member of its Board of Directors for many years. She is considered the world expert on distressing NDEs.
This book is not quite like other books about the Titanic. As the title suggests, it is an attempt to explore the more transcendental aspects of the Titanic story - those suggesting a non-mechanistic universe. The subjects include premonitions, apparitions, out-of-body experiences, telepathic communication among the living, and after-death communication, many related to the Titanic passengers, others offered in support of the Titanic phenomena. Many of them have to do with other ocean tragedies. Chief among the Titanic passengers in this book is William T. Stead, a British journalist, who did not survive the disaster but apparently survived in another dimension, from which he communicated in the weeks following his death. . The Titanic story offers us the opportunity to examine death in a safe haven with the added bonus that, unlike most stories involving death, the parties actually have time to contemplate theirs death, some to escape, some to succumb. More than any other modern story, the Titanic might be viewed as a microcosm of life, a "community" isolated in the vast reaches of the ocean, one offering wealth and poverty, the opulence of first class and the ordinariness of steerage class, with a middle or second class in between. Every type of emotion, mindset, virtue and vice is represented - love and fear, hope and despair, bravery and cowardice, arrogance and humbleness, pomp and shame, selfishness and brotherhood. To accent it all, the iceberg impacted by the leviathan was reported as being a rare black berg looming high over the vessel, as if a giant evil predator. More than anything though, the Titanic story represents the struggle between man's inner and outer self, a struggle which many people are interested in but prefer to avoid except in books or movies.
Life, as we know it, will end. It's not a thought that tends to occupy us when we're young and in full health and vigor. We take risks, some foolhardy. We live as though we're immortal. And when we have our own children we are renewed, and life is good. But we can't look in the mirror every day without noticing subtle signs of change. We can't lose a loved one without reflecting on the passage of time and being nagged by the question, "What is it in life that I've yet to accomplish?" It's not a giant leap from asking that question about ourselves to wanting to know "What happens when I die?" Brian Stiller, author of WHEN LIFE HURTS, took on the task of answering this challenging question. Where is the proof that anything is going to happen? Why not just live life for the day, because that's all there is? WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I DIE? is a journey toward understanding the nature of life after death, one that leads ultimately to the Scriptures and a promise given by God. It is a promise rooted in faith and joy. It is a promise that has everything to do with what we make of our life here on earth. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I DIE? is not just about death, but living a fulfilled, loving and caring life. The choice is ours to seek and receive God's gift-or not. But the way has been prepared as this insightful and thought-provoking book affirms.

Reincarnation is described as "giving a new body to the soul." And although this has not been a popular belief in the West, acceptance of this Eastern principle of life is becoming ever more common in the twenty-first century. In this book, Emma Belle Donath explores the influence of past lives in relationships and their meaning from a karmic perspective. By comparing two natal charts and the planets in conjunction between them, it is possible to identify the past relationship of two people, whether as partners, relatives, employer and employee, student and mentor, and many others. Beginning with the eight simple steps involved in the chart comparison, the author then devotes in-depth chapters to sign emphasis and planets and asteroids in conjunction between the two charts. A quick reference keyword guide for each planet and asteroid and the planetary aspects is also provided for ease in interpretation.
Most of us at the very least wonder about our own immortality and many people are convinced that there is something beyond death, beyond the blackness of the grave. In Western Judaeo-Christian culture we absorb from an early age the idea that virtue now has its own reward - later. We are taught that the universe is essentially moral and that there are absolute human values. But increasingly, science presents us with a picture of a much more mechanical universe in which there is no absolute morality and man has no purpose and no personal responsibility except to his culture and his biology. We no longer live in an age when faith is sufficient; we demand data, and we are driven by data. And it is data - data that apparently throws some light on our current concepts of Heaven and Hell - that the near-death experience seems to offer. The near-death experience (NDE) is intriguing for two major reasons. First, it is very common and secondly, it is cross-cultural. The results of one NOP survey in America suggest that over 1 million Americans have 'seen the light'. Any experience that is so common must have had some influence on the way we think about life and death. Indeed, it could be the very engine that drives our ideas of an afterlife. Many people believe that in the NDE we are given glimpses of Heaven (or Hell). But it is just as reasonable to assume that it is the NDE itself which may have shaped our very ideas about Heaven and Hell. The experiences described in this book are all first-hand accounts from people who wrote to me or to David Lorimer, chairman of the International Association of Near Death Studies (UK), after a television programme, radio broadcast or magazine or newspaper article made them aware of our interest in near-death experiences. We asked 500 of those who wrote to answer a detailed questionnaire about their experiences. Our aim was to gather in a standardised format as much detail as we could about the NDE, the people who have experienced it and the effect that the experience has had on their lives. It is from this database that the statistics quoted in this book have been drawn, and the accounts given to me by these people and by others who have written to me since then form the basis of the book. But their accounts provided much more than mere statistics. Each one was special in its own way, and provided a personal testimony which I found both moving and utterly sincere. It is very seldom that an author can so truthfully say that without others a book could not have been written - in this case, without these people there would, indeed, have been no book. I feel privileged to have been allowed to read their accounts, and I am grateful to everyone who, by being willing to share their experience with me, has helped in this search to find the truth in the light. Peter Fenwick London December 1994

MEMORIES AND POEMS FROM THE OTHER SIDE
What happens after we die? Author and award winning filmmaker Richard Martini explores startling new evidence for life after death, via the "life between lives," where we reportedly return to find our loved ones, soul mates and spiritual teachers. Based on the evidence of thousands of people who claim that under deep hypnosis, they saw and experienced the same basic things about the Afterlife, the book interviews hypnotherapists around the world trained in the method pioneered by Dr. Michael Newton, as well as examining actual between life sessions. The author agrees to go on the same journey himself, with startling and candid results, learning we are fully conscious between our various incarnations, and return to connect with loved ones and spiritual soul mates, and together choose how and when and with whom we'll reincarnate. The author examines how "Karmic law" is trumped by "Free will," with souls choosing difficult lives in order to learn from their spiritually; no matter how difficult, strange or complex a life choice appears to be, it was made in advance, consciously, with the help of loved ones, soul mates and wise elders. Extensively researched, breathtaking in scope, "Flipside" takes the reader into new territory, boldly going where no author has gone before to tie up the various disciplines of past life regression. near death experiences, and between life exploration. In the words of author Gary Schwartz, Phd, once you've read "Flipside" "you'll never see the world in the same way again."
During his 50 years of psychical research, Sir William Fletcher Barrett (February 10, 1884 - May 26, 1925) observed many types of phenomena. In his reminiscences, read at a private meeting of the Society for Psychical Research (SPR) on June 17, 1924, less than a year before his death, Barrett said: "I am personally convinced that the evidence we have published decidedly demonstrates (1) the existence of a spiritual world, (2) survival after death, and (3) of occasional communication from those who have passed over...It is however hardly possible to convey to others who have not had a similar experience an adequate idea of the strength and cumulative force of the evidence that has compelled [my] belief." Barrett was the prime-mover in the founding of the SPR in 1882, serving as vice-president and editor of the Society's Journal during its first year and president in 1904. He also encouraged Professor William James of Harvard to organize the American branch of the SPR in 1884. In this book, Deathbed Visions, first published in 1926, the year after his death, Barrett reported on a number of intriguing cases in which a dying person appears to see and recognize some deceased relative or friend, some of them involving instances where the dying person was unaware of the previous death of the spirit form he saw. "These cases form, perhaps, one of the most cogent arguments for survival after death, as the evidential value and veridical (truth telling) character of these visions of the dying is greatly enhanced when the fact is undeniably established that the dying person was wholly ignorant of the decease of the person he or she so vividly sees," Barrett stated in the book, now something of a classic in the field.
"Forget your 3D cinema and TV, and your virtual cyber-worlds - these are but pale electronic imitations of what you can access through your own mind. This book shows you how to dream lucidly, which means waking up inside dreams while still physiologically asleep. Lucid dreaming is a genuine altered state of consciousness, not merely vivid dreaming, in which you can find yourself in other realities that seem as real as waking consciousness. There is no limit to the creations you can explore, because the biological wonder that is your brain is the most complex thing we know of. You can have fun, meet departed friends and relatives as if they were still alive, rehearse actions you have to undertake in the normal world of daily reality, experience mystical and paranormal mind states, and much more. A third of our life is spent asleep, and in an average lifetime we experience about half a million dreams. Yet for most of us that part of our existence is like a closed book. We might remember an occasional vivid dream, but usually our dreams are just vague, fragmented shadows that evaporate in our minds as soon as we open our eyes. This book explains the history and nature of dreams and lucid dreams, and then presents a uniquely comprehensive range of techniques, tools and aids for attaining lucid dreaming. So leave your 3D glasses behind and train yourself to plunge into the inner virtual worlds that lie beyond your dreams."
