Your Prayers Are Powerful If God is all-powerful, why does He need
us to pray? If we pray and nothing happens, does this mean that God
isn't listening? If you've ever felt that your prayers don't count,
"Intercessory Prayer" will show you just how vital your prayers
are. In this book, pastor and teacher Dutch Sheets explains the
nuts and bolts of prayer with wisdom, gentleness, and humor. This
book will inspire you, give you the courage to pray for the
"impossible," and help you find the persistence to see your prayers
to completion. Discover your role as a prayer warrior--it can mean
the difference between heaven and hell for someone you know!
This stunning collection of prayers from women throughout the
Anglican Communion is organized according to themes of the U.N.
Millennium Development Goals. The prayers make direct connections
between women's lives and global concerns of women everywhere,
showing the interrelatedness, for example, between a woman's prayer
for her infant in America and the plight of child laborers in
developing countries. The prayer selections are representative of
women from of all parts of the Anglican world. Members of the
editorial board include Jane Williams, Phoebe Griswold, and women
from Asia, South America, and the Middle East.
Written by a seasoned law enforcement professional, Bobby Kipper,
Roll Call is a Christian Spiritual Guide for other law enforcement
professionals. Police work is a stressful and often dangerous job
that puts a burden on the individual that most people will never
understand. It also forces the police officer to see the world in a
very real light and that light is not always positive. Bobby Kipper
understands the challenges to staying spiritual in an often-harsh
world. It is easy to lose focus on a loving and caring God in the
midst of turmoil. It is easy to lose hope when a person sees so
much hopelessness. Roll Call is as an easy-to-carry book that an
officer can read in these troubling times. During a break from all
the chaos, the officer can read a quick chapter and refocus on a
loving God and the peace of Jesus. Roll Call is a "no-nonsense"
book that places the Christian Faith in the forefront of the
officers' lives. In these drastic times of today and with the
problems facing law enforcement, there is no better time for the
faith community to have a police "Roll Call."

and worry, Brother Richard brings us on a transformative journey of

ourselves in everyone and everything' SISTER STAN
When you talk to God, do you ever feel as if you are not getting
through? You're not alone. At some point, most believers find
themselves grappling with difficult questions like Would God really
talk to me personally? and How do I know it's truly God talking,
and not my own thoughts? But here's the good news: Hearing God is
simpler than you think. It's possible to have a relationship with
God that involves both speaking and listening. In fact, it's God's
desire; He wants to talk to you. In this revised and expanded
edition of a classic work, author and teacher Steve Sampson shows
you how to pray not just wishing you'd hear God's voice--but
expecting to hear it. Sampson's uncomplicated, practical
perspective will help you cultivate the two-way conversation with
God you've always longed for. Before long, you'll hear Him speaking
into your circumstances and relationships, expressing His love for
you and showing you the next steps to take in your life. Don't
settle for a one-sided conversation with God. Break through this
barrier and develop a sensitive heart that hears--and responds
to--God's still, small voice. "With clarity and humor, Steve takes
you on a journey to the place of profound simplicity in Christ
where hearing Him is as natural as breathing."--Bishop Mark J.

Since earliest times Christians have used pebbles, a string of
knots, or beads on a cord to keep track of their prayers, and
prayer beads can be found in virtually every major religious
tradition in the world. Anglicans and other Protestants have also
begun to use the rosary to help refresh a life of prayer--it
creates a rhythm that helps wean us from our distractions and focus
our attention so that we can more readily move into God's presence.
As the beads and prayers recede into the background, the mysteries
that make up the rosary come into our minds and hearts like
religious pictures or icons. First published by Doubleday in 1975,
J. Neville Ward's unusual collection of meditations offer an
entirely new approach to the rosary for all Christians. He begins
with its traditional use and then offers fifteen insights into the
life of Jesus and his mother Mary that can speak to us today. Thus
a meditation on the sorrowful themes reminds us of the suffering
that is so much a part of our own lives, while the joyful and
glorious mysteries speak of the desire for faith, hope, and love
that will heal them. These reflections serve up a rich spiritual
repast for Christians seeking new contemplative practices and
learning to pray with the rosary.
Inspirational and Spiritual Prayer GuideIf you liked Help, Thanks,
Wow by Anne Lamott or Anxious for Nothing by Max Lucado, you'll
love Your Life is Your Prayer. Prayer can point your life in the
right direction-or the wrong one: Whatever you've got going on in
your life is what you've been praying for-sometimes consciously,
but often unconsciously. If you want something different in your
life, you must pray a different prayer. Your Life is Your Prayer by
BJ Gallagher and Sam Beasley will show you how to do just that.
Everything you do is prayer: You may not realize it-many people
don't-but the decisions you make throughout the day, the attitudes
you adopt, the conversations you have, the way you respond to other
people, and the thoughts you think are all prayers. The food you
choose to eat is a prayer, the way you spend your money is a
prayer-even the way you drive is a prayer! We are constantly
communing with the Divine, even in our most mundane activities. And
our prayers are always answered in the affirmative: "Yes." The
Universe will give you what you're praying for: Whatever you're
thinking about (and therefore praying about) will manifest in your
life. If you are worrying, "I don't have enough money," the
Universe will say 'Yes, you don't have enough money.' If you're
constantly lamenting, "I don't have a man in my life," the Universe
will respond, 'Yes, you don't have a man.' If you frequently
complain, "I'm fat," the Universe will answer, 'Yes, you're fat.'
Your thoughts and words are prayers, and the Universe always gives
you what you're praying for. Your Life is Your Prayer will show you
how to change your life by changing your prayer: Learn how to stop
complaining Discover how to focus on what you do want, not what you
don't want Learn how to make your prayers positive and affirming-to
get more of what you want in your life Discover how, by constantly
choosing new thoughts and new conversations, you will literally
create a new life for yourself
Help for the restless or distracted at Mass: Here are the keys to
prayerful participation at Mass. You'll learn how to quiet your
soul and concentrate your mind so that you can grow more receptive
to the graces Christ offers you in the Mass.
`It is strange that we can spend a lifetime sitting through church
services and actually not really pray. I had spent years doing just
that.' When Mary Kissell committed to getting up early every
morning to spend time in prayer, she began a practice that would
revolutionise her life. Daily developing her relationship with God,
she grew in intimacy with the Holy Spirit and discovered how He
speaks in whispers, glimpses and nudges - simple leadings that can
have the profoundest outcomes. This rich and moving memoir tells
the incredible story of how simply following the Holy Spirit's
leading saw countless people impacted around the world and the most
heart-rending situations transformed. Allow Mary's story of walking
with the Holy Spirit inspire and encourage you to do the same,
whatever season of life you are in.
"Lift up your heart to God with a humble impulse of love and have
himself as your aim, not any of his goods . . . Set yourself to
rest in this darkness, always crying out after him whom you love.
For if you are to experience him or to see him at all, insofar as
it is possible here, it must always be in this cloud and in this
darkness." "The Cloud of Unknowing "is one of the classic medieval
texts on contemplative prayer. Written anonymously towards the end
of the 14th century for someone just starting out in the journey of
faith, it dwells on the essentially unknowability of God. Since God
cannot be grasped by the intellect, he must be approached with an
attitude of humility and love, in listening prayer.

Prayer is a word we take for granted. Ought we to do so? What do we
mean by prayer? What does the word mean in the Christian context?
Almost always when we talk about prayer we refer to something we
do. From that standpoint, questions problems, confusion,
discouragement and illusions multiply. For Burrows it is essential
to correct this view. Our Christian knowledge assures us that
prayer is essentially what God does, how God addresses us, looks at
us. And what God is doing for us is giving us the Divine Self in
love. What then is the core of the central message of the
revelation of Jesus? It is the unconditional love of God for us,
for each one of us. God the unutterable, incomprehensible Mystery,
the Reality of all reality, the Life of all Life. And this means
that divine Love desires to communicate its Holy Self to us. This
is the richness of the vision of a contemplative nun who
contradicts the heresy of so much modern writing about the
spiritual like- namely that we reach God by running faster. The
growing fascination for the public of the contemplative and
monastic life is evidence of the profound appeal of this approach.
For this there is a real hunger. At its simplest we do no look for
success so as to be assured that we do believe. We give ourselves
over completely to divine love. Ultimately, we live for God and not
for ourselves.
