The Kumon Math Boosters series is designed to help children who
either need to improve their basic math skills, or who are slightly
ahead of the curve. They accomplish this by combining multiple
years of curriculum in one book and following the famous
step-by-step Kumon approach, which reduces anxiety and frustration.
So whether your child needs a little extra review and
reinforcement, or is ready to jump ahead to the next level, Kumon
Math Boosters are the right choice.
Imagine a world of innovative, communicative, collaborative and thoughtful problem-solvers. Now imagine a world where needs are met, problems are solved and sustainable decisions are made. Wouldn’t it be fabulous?
The STEM projects series provides opportunities for students to develop Science knowledge and skills, Design and technology skills, Mathematics skills and general capabilities while completing short or long-term projects. It encourages students to follow a consistent design process while completing the projects, including finding out information, planning and designing, creating, evaluating and communicating.
The projects allow students to work in small teams, using effective communication and collaboration skills, to plan, design, create and evaluate a thoughtful and innovative solution to a given task. When satisfied with their solutions, students showcase and discuss their design, explaining how science was used throughout the project.
The STEM projects series contains:
- two introductory cards explaining STEM education; time allocations for using the cards; and tips for planning, differentiating, teaching and assessing STEM projects, as well as classroom management and resource management ideas,
- one card with icons explaining each step of the design process, in child-friendly language,
- one card explaining the Science sub-strand; how the projects can be linked to Design and technology, Digital technology and Mathematics skills; and providing an overview of each project contained within the sub-strand, including the task and the specific materials required,
- six short-term projects and one long-term project for each sub-strand of Australian Curriculum: Science, and
- six copies of each project to allow for small-group use, 28 individual cards per box

The Maths Box series is a set of six boxes of cards, one for each of the grades from Grade 1 - Grade 7. They have been written to support the teaching and learning of the new Mathematics Curriculum, and there is at least one card for each programme of study objective.
The cards are grouped by curriculum strands and sub-strands, in the same order as they appear in the National Curriculum document. Separate answer cards allow learners to work independently, at their own pace, whilst keeping a record for their own and teacher reference.
Each box contains:
- 75 high-interest, brightly-coloured cards (2 of each card, 150 cards in total)
- 75 colourful answer cards
- 1 comprehensive, photocopiable Teachers Guide
Each Teachers Guide contains:
- a scope and sequence chart, detailing the curriculum objective(s) covered by each card information on how to use and organise the box in the classroom
- an explanation of the different parts of the activity and answer cards
- answer recording sheets for pupils tracking, and recording sheets for pupils and teachers, to aid assessment
- a list of materials and equipment needed for each card
- full-colour posters to aid teaching of card content and strategies, and/or display photocopiable activity sheets to support, practise and extend the card activities
- a full-colour copy of each answer card a comprehensive glossary
Train Your Brain for Grade 1 provides extra practice to help your
child understand the key Mathematics skills.
Category Description for Kumon Math Workbooks (1-6):
A math program based on the Kumon method. Basically, the earmarks of
this system are:
- Concepts introduced in small, incremental steps, allowing
children to master them without confusion
- Single topic books rather than mixed strands. Children
concentrate just on addition, for example, before moving to subtraction
- Concepts are taught by discovery method than being spelled
out
The series is meant to be self-directed. Students take charge of their
own learning on every level. They complete pages, check their work,
record their scores, and determine whether to move on or review. The
pace almost guarantees success. Children should work a "few" pages a
day; assignments should take about 20 minutes to complete. Pages are
marked with the skill level required at top and the points each
question is valued at (a very young child will need some help totaling
points). Very short instruction (or an example) is given on a few
pages. For example, there is a short explanation when children begin to
subtract a 2-digit number from a 3-digit number where borrowing is
needed. However, the child is given every opportunity to intuit this
beforehand. By the time he reaches this page, he has already been
subtracting double-digit numbers for many pages. Some of these would
require borrowing, but, since they are able to subtract, say, 7 from
12, the Kumon method wants the child to see a pattern when increasing
to 7 from 22, 7 from 32, etc. This does remind me of the approach used
in Miquon as well. Besides these very infrequent helps there are just
some small prompts for children to look for patterns in their answers,
and words of encouragement. Pages are pleasing to the eye; they are
colored, clean, and problems are well-spaced. The Kumon method has been
used successfully with children around the world for over 50 years. It
does seem like it would help a child to take charge of his own learning
and help himself to understanding rather than being spoon-fed each
bite. For Kumon math earlier than Grade 1, see the Kumon section in
Early Learning.
