ABOUT THE BOOK The terrifying legend of Count Dracula silently skulking through the Transylvania night may have terrified generations of filmgoers, but the tall, elegant vampire captivated and electrified a young Jane Congdon, igniting a dream to one day see his mysterious land of ancient castles and misty hollows. Four decades later she finally takes her long-awaited trip-never dreaming that it would unearth decades-buried memories of life with an alcoholic mother, and trigger a life-changing inner journey. Unfolding in 18 days as she followed the footsteps of Dracula from Bucharest, to the Carpathian Mountains, and the Black Sea. Dracula's legend becomes the prism through which she would revisit her childhood and lay claim to a happiness she had never known. A memoir full of surprises, Jane's story is one of hope, love-and second chances. Unfinished business can surface when we least expect it. It Started with Dracula is the inspiring story of two parallel journeys: one a carefully planned vacation and the other an astonishing and unexpected tour in repairing a wounded heart. -Charles Whitfield, MD, Bestselling author, Healing the Child Within An elegantly written and cleverly told real-life adventure story proving that the struggle for self-love is universal. An electrifying read.-Diane Bruno, CISION Media

'Why can't museums be more like films?' thought eleven-year-old John Sunderland whilst truanting from double maths incognito in his school gabardine and cap in a Yorkshire city museum. That idea simmered for 23 years throughout his multi-media design career during which he created the legendary iconic cartoon character 'Dusty Bin' of 3*2*1, the Yorkshire Television quiz game show, and made films with Kenny Everett. Then, unexpectedly, his path led to the Vikings of York. There, against all odds, he became Project Designer of the original Jorvik Viking Centre. His bold interpretation of York Archaeological Trust's original concept based on their incredible finds from the Coppergate dig transported visitors 1,000 years back in time immersing them in a captured moment one afternoon in the busy streets of the great Viking city, Jorvik. This revolutionary approach to the interpretation of York's Viking history had an immediate and lasting impact on the way Britain's cultural heritage would be presented from then on. In this humorous heart-warming memoir, the author takes us on the up and down journey of how, without any previous museum design experience, he and a uniquely talented hand-picked team came to design and build the first ever populist archaeological exhibition in Britain. This is a story loaded with Yorkshire wit that reveals how the author used intuitive creative thinking to put visitors inside the story instead of on the outside looking in. Finally, a museum more like a film, and a lot more fun. 'I couldn't put it down.' Francis Pryor, archaeologist, author and Time Team presenter 'The opening of the Jorvik Viking Centre was a watershed moment in the history not only of archaeological heritage management but also of archaeology itself. The buzz among the global community of archaeologists was immediate.' - Douglas C. Comer, Ph.D., RPA, Co-President, ICOMOS International Scientific Committee on Archaeological Heritage Management (ICAHM) 'A witty, honest account... hugely entertaining and informative... fascinating behind-the-scenes insight' - John Oxley, FSA, City Archaeologist, City of York Council '(A)n amusing... thoroughly readable revealing story of the ride of John's] life, including the bumpy bits.' - Colin C. Pyrah OBE

The LRIP will provide long-term direction and focus for the interpretive program for George Washington Memorial Parkway. Together with the park-produced annual implementation plan and the interpretive database, it will form a comprehensive interpretive plan as specified by National Park Service Director's Order-6. The LRIP will describe the park's primary interpretive themes and visitor experiences, and recommend ways to facilitate those experiences through facility design, interpretive/informational media, personal services programs, and partnership endeavors.
The purpose of this action is to ensure that the Partners - the National Park Service, the Flight 93 Advisory Commission, the Families Flight 93, and the Flight 93 Memorial Task Force as well as the public have a clear understanding of the types of development, resource conditions, visitor experience, and management options that would best fulfill the mission of the Flight 93 National Memorial
The best of the Logan Marshall classics have been researched and edited by authors Bruce M. Caplan and Ken Rossignol and presented in this new book. The Titanic's secret fire is explained in great detail. The early days of World War I and the savage sinking of the Lusitania which caused over 1,000 civilians to die on an unarmed passenger vessel are brought to life. Great photos of both ships and the people who survived along with the war posters which boosted the efforts of the United States, Britain and France to rally their countries to stand up to the German aggression.
The present administrative history of Coronado National Memorial reveals underlying trends, practices, and themes that have, since 1941, gained, at least, in venerability, and others, more ancillary, that have long since disappeared.
This study is organized into five thematic chapters. Each chapter focuses on a broad Western theme. The chapters are less sequential than topical and need not be read in order of appearance, though one should begin with the overview. The themes are 1) An overview chronological description of the lives of the people and history of Faraway Ranch; 2) The Federal presence in the West; 3) Women in the American West; 4) Tourism and Guest Ranching; and 5) Ranching.
The National Museum of Ireland / Ard-Mhusaem na hEireann is a repository of memory - but also a living place that enriches and challenges the present, that preserves for the future a witness to who we have been. We invited more than forty poets, writing in both English and Irish, to visit any of the Museum's four collections - Archaeology in Kildare Street, Natural History in Merrion Street, Decorative Arts & History in Collins' Barracks, Dublin, and Country Life in Turlough Park, Co. Mayo - and to write a poem prompted by this visit. The resulting poems in this anthology are inspired by, in conversation with, the Museum itself and those artefacts and objects from its collections that have engaged the imagination of the poets as they have engaged the imaginations of countless visitors through the years."
