"This is not a storybook. It is a true craft book ...an enjoyable
book for children who are creative and love African animals."-Ruby
Hannigan, "Portland Book Review"After the success of our first
edition of Animals of Africa we have decided to publish a paperback
edition. Animals of Africa offers children a great selection of
some of their favourite animals, such as lions, elephants, or
zebras. The book taps into the fascination that African animals
arouse in all children. Papercraft toys are a unique way of
bringing together creative and spatial abilities and of helping
children to strengthen their cognitive skills. An ideal book for
children and grown-up fans of 3D papercraft alike, and a splendid
gift crafted from the highest-quality materials.Patrick Pasques is
a well-known children's and paper craft author. He is also the
author of "3D Paper Craft Racing Cars "and "3D Paper Craft Robots,"
both long-time bestsellers.
The "Origami Kids" series is dedicated to inspiring youthful
folders to design and document models of their own. Contained
within this book are 30 wonderful projects created by young folders
- some who were simply experimenting and came upon an exciting new
creation and some who are serious designers who went on to become
recognized names in the origami community. All proceeds for
"Origami Kids" and its subsequent volumes are donated to OrigamiUSA
and "Origami by Children" fund to foster creativity and exploration
in young designers and folders.
With precise instructions and vivid, four-color photographs, Ayako
Brodek shows readers how to create 40 elegant and unusual pieces of
jewelry. Each project includes a list of materials, illustrated
step-by-step folding and finishing instructions, a beautiful photo
of the completed piece, and suggested color variations, paper
designs and embellishments to make each piece exciting and unique.
The book opens with sections on choosing paper, equipment, basic
folds and bases, and making the piece that then become building
blocks for all of the modular and beaded origami jewelry designs
featured in the book. There is a section on finishing techniques,
followed by the main part of the book, the Directory. Author Ayako
Brodek has organized the Directory by seasons and motif, and
includes a section of Traditional Japanese Designs as well. Each
project is coded by type: (F) Figure; (M) Modular; and (B) Bead.

assembly instructions are in color. And, as in all her books, Mette
Pederson's instructions are clear, straight forward, and easy
enough for even beginners to follow.

The author says: "The stories in this collection are an outgrowth
of my lamentable childhood, as well as a reflection of those things
in life which I found fascinating--in that they could mentally take
me away from the horror of my daily life, and at least on the level
of imagination offer me something worth waking up each morning for.
Thus, the universes in this collection center around outsiders,
artists, and freaks (be they natural-born or self-made); some of
the stories are interconnected, but also designed to stand alone.
I've included afterwords for each to shine additional light on both
the works and their cultural personal inspirations. But more than a
collection, to me this volume is a glimpse into my creative
soul--and as such, it may not be perfect, it might not even be
logical, but it is what I am, love it or hate it." Six cutting-edge
stories of a bizarre, near-future America, a mix of strange
cultures and curious characters, featuring tattoo artists, origami
masters, Irezumi, the De Novo Shinkansen, Qatmandude...and the Blue
Moon Roach Hotel
