The Lancia Stratos HF is, without any doubts, a reference icon of Italian automotive production during the ‘70s. The Italian sport car, produced for a short period of time, has become famous for its innovative design, its technical solutions and, above all, for the success achieved in rally competitions. Lancia Stratos won, for the 1974, 1975 and 1976 the World Rally Championship and a lot of Italian and European titles. In terms of mechanical lay out, it adopted the 6 cylinders V engine characterized by a displacement of 2,418 cc, and the rear-wheel drive transmission. Its unique and nice design is, even today, an attractive dream for all fans of the automotive history.
At the Motorcycle Show held in Milan, Italy, in September of 1997, the Yamaha YZF-R1 supersport motorcycle made its debut. Sporting a powerful 1000cc engine, it has the compact construction of a 400cc bike. The YZF-R1 was developed for maximum possible cornering ability in a production motorcycle. With a 1000cc water-cooled, four stroke, 4-cylinder, 5-valve engine and adopting a redesigned EXUP exhaust system, it pumps out 150hp of high-intensity power. Subtle throttle control makes both superb acceleration response and rhythmic cornering a reality. The Deltabox II aluminum frame was sought after not only for its rigidity, but more so for its moderate flexibility during tight cornering. With the addition of a long span aluminum swing arm, high control ability has been achieved. By adopting an upside-down front fork, stroke distance has been increased and traction heightened. Boasting a sharp form with multi-reflector lights, the YZF-R1 has been given an unprecedented style. From the contact points between the rider and motorcycle, right down to the material used in the seat and tank, the YZF-R1 has been thoroughly studied. Of course, the abundance of high precision and high quality parts goes without saying. Designed to cruise at high speeds on winding roads, the YZF-R1 shatters expectations about large exhaust engine motorcycles. Yamaha has expanded the possibilities of a 1000cc bike.
The Lamborghini Miura was produced by the Italian manufacturer between 1966 and 1973. The Miura, when it was presented on the market, was a real supercar characterized by high performance and innovative design. In 1970, on the layout of the Miura, a specific version dedicated for the competitions was created through improvements on chassis and suspensions. Other significant changes where implemented on engine power and on the braking system. The commercial name of this unique car with a power of 440 Hp and outstanding performances was “Jota”. However, due to several requests from customers, Lamborghini modified some Miura SV series with specification similar to Jota. These cars were identified by the acronym SVJ and became soon the dream of car experts and funs all over the World.
In 1940, after World War II had broken out, the US general staff ordered various factories to design a light multi-purpose vehicle with all-wheel drive. The American Bantam Company, Willys Overland, and Ford Motor Co. competed with each other. Willys prototype was chosen, which, after an initial run of 1500 vehicles, went into mass production at the beginning of 1941 and reached a total output of 640.000 units out of which 277.000 pieces were produced by Ford under a licensing agreement. This shows that the Jeep was the most widely produced light vehicle of the war industry during World War II.

It has been characterized by the 4x4 traction system and by a robust and reliable design able to tackle the most difficult and challenging trails. The aluminum body provide lightness but, at the same time, more resistance against corrosions and more durable in time. In 1971, when the III Series was introduced, more than 1,000,000 of Land Rovers has been produced. Available in two versions: the "standard " one and the "long wheel base". The Fiat 131 Abarth was built on the frame of the two-door Fiat sedan. The development made by Abarth considered several modifications and improvements starting from the reduction of the body weight using lighter materials. Then some new fenders, to permit the adoption of larger wheels, were installed and new air-intakes on the hood and on the sides to optimize the cooling of the mechanics were designed. The engine was a 4-cylinder longitudinal engine characterised by the use light alloy head and 4 valves per cylinder. The Fiat 131 Abarth was built from 1976 and it was used in the World Rally Championship where achieved important results as three manufacturers’ championship, one pilots’ championship and one FIA trophy. The Ford Escort Mk 2 was launched in 1975. It was a significant evolution compared to the Escort Mk 1 that debuted at Brussels Motor Show in January 1968. It used the reliable mechanical components as the Mk 1 but adopted a new design based on a squared-style look able to be in line with the aesthetic and stylistic taste of the 70s. The product range was wide, declined in three body styles (2 doors, 4 doors and 3 doors station wagon), five type of engines and a significant variety of settings and configurations. The front engine of these vehicles allows to have a lower loading bed, which eases the loading process. Anyway the very first Transit was produced in 1965 by the German and British Ford together, expressly wanted by Henry Ford; this cooperation gave life to what is Ford Europe today and to the well-known vehicle MK I. In 1978 it was further reshaped and the MK II was born. In 1984 an esthetic restyling was made on the front bumper and to the engine, which was a 68 horsepower Diesel York of 2.5 L. These vehicles have been a commercial success not only in Europe, as still today they are in production
also for extra European markets.
In the United States, stagecoaches ran between Boston and Rhode Island as early as 1716, but no further design developed until the middle of that century. But the stagecoach as we all now recognise it was developed much later on. They were almost the only public cross-county transportation available to the vast majority of the population. However it was during the development of the West that the famous Stagecoaches really made their mark. The majority of them in the West came to be under contract to the U.S. government to carry mails, notices of new legislation, payrolls to the troops, transferring money, but passengers were always carries on different stages.
