Marti was a leading Cuban nationalist in the independence war of
the 1890s that anticipated the Third World liberation struggles of
the 20th century and played for the Cuban Revolution a similar role
to that of Lenin in Russia. This title looks at his role in
US-Latin American relations, his contribution to ideological
debates and the influence of American and German thinking in his
social criticism.
