Spirit of a Huasa is a contemporary story set in the Chilean
countryside. It is about Chilean rodeo, Chilean cowboys, horses,
Chilean cuisine, and a girl in crutches. Cristina Montalva will
whet the appetite of uninitiated children who suffer from physical
disabilities or setbacks to keep going and to persevere through
horseback riding. Using the horse as a healing agent will improve
spatial awareness, body image, self-confidence and physical
stamina. In this story, 17-year-old Marta, a strong spirited girl,
desires to become a huasa, a Chilean cowgirl, riding in rodeos and
competing with huasos.
