Glissando on an Empty Harp, and Love in Plastic, all reflect Ian
Rowlands's vigorous intellect and fascination with words. Blue
Heron is a black comedy about a family who gathers to scatter the
ashes of a dead child. They are divided in grief, blown apart by
jealousy. Glissandro, with echoes of about two poet-tramps, a mute,
and a woman who gives birth to a box, and a head that appears on
video. The final play, set in a seedy restaurant and focusing on
seven different people, explores the debasement of Welshness and
language.
