Jennifer Kent was a pretty child of eleven years; small for her age
but astute for all that. During her short existence she had come to
realise there was far more joy to life than she had ever known -
more than was on offer anyway. It was an on the spur of the moment
decision to escape her home, to run away and leave all that fearful
loneliness behind and to seek a freer way of life. Though still so
young she felt the need for happiness to fill her days and so she
would go and find it where she could, even if it meant leaving her
only friend behind - deeply buried neath the grassy sod. But
leaving home wasn't going to be that easy; notions worth exploring
never are; but with a newly found friend beside her, helping to
smooth the way ahead, she felt she would be able to achieve her
happiness in no time at all - if only that were possible.
