Alba has a tedious job, a nonexistent love life, and dreams of
someday achieving professional and personal fulfillment. One day
she meets Joe, the man of her dreams, and believes she is on the
path to true love. But things go terribly wrong when Joe meets Sue
Ann Miller, Alba's sexy, blond, and beautiful roommate. Then Alba
suffers a string of bad dates, and her job becomes a nightmare
under the supervision of Ted "Toady," her tyrannical boss.
Reflecting on experiences of her childhood and teen years, Alba
realizes she has played the role of doormat far too long and needs
to take charge of her life if she is ever to attain the happiness
she seeks. Set in Los Angeles of the early 1980s, this novel is a
page-turning, humorous, sensitive, coming-of-age story.
