Evil men and evil deeds have been around since the beginning of
time. All humans regard those individuals who commit these heinous
crimes as monsters regardless of their race or culture. As our
Nation progressed westward these demons saw the opportunity to
travel west hidden under a cloak of deceit. This is the story of
one monster moving from the East into Indian Territory leaving
brutalized children and grieving parents in his wake.
Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines "Civilized" as: "characteristic
of a state of civilization; especially: characterized by taste,
refinement, or restraint." But whose civilization, taste,
refinement, or restraint do we accept or reject? At different times
in American history we have rejected other civilizations and their
culture later to say maybe we went too far and we need to
reevaluate. Chayton's moral compass forged by two civilizations
took the best of both and fought evil when it surfaced without
regard to its taste, refinement, or restraint and without regard to
his own life. He did what was right. He was committed to give these
child victims justice.
