World War Two was probably the most documented event in all of
human existence. US Army records weight 17,120 tons. That's about
188 miles of filing cabinets arranged side by side. Obviously, that
is a lot of territory so my series is very succinct. The series is
a mini-history with a focus on the air war, the men / women, the
events and the times. I divided the book into very detailed
sections. Example: Volume I covers some of the road to war, the
Pearl Harbor attack, and discusses the development of the early
pursuit planes - P-26 to P-39. It talks about the use of airmen as
infantry (Bataan), the economy of 1941, and more. I commissioned
several artists to create original illustrations and obtained
permission of professional artist to use some of their work. I also
used many images from government achieves. I researched my personal
library, the internet, and the huge USMC Grey Research Center at
Quantico, VA. I also consulted with subject matter experts in other
nations, example Sweden and Germany. It is historical accurate,
interesting and informative. I created the Little Friends series in
part as a labor of love. My father, all eleven uncles, and a few
first cousins were WWII veterans. I grew up listening to their
experiences. As I said in the book, I certainly hope I've paid them
proper homage.
