Ghost Rider (Blu-ray disc)

Ghost Rider is another Marvel Comics creation. He's a former-baddie-now-turned-good Superhero; much like The Punisher, of recent times - but far, far more spectacular!

When young Johnny Blaze discovers that his showman/father has lung cancer, he enters into a pact with Mephistopheles (Peter Fonda), and exchanges his soul for his father's complete healing. Next day the cancer has gone - but his father then dies in a horrific motorcycle accident. So Johnny is now compelled to ride for the Evil One!

The adult Johnny Blaze is sympathetically portrayed by Nicholas Cage, who crosses paths with former girlfriend and now TV reporter Roxanne Simpson (Eva Mendes) from time to time, though she doesn't know what to make of him. Meanwhile, it transpires that the quiet, likeable church caretaker, Carter Slade, is a former Ghost Rider himself!

It's all watchable and entertaining action stuff - with some above-average special effects pitched in for good measure.

Long ago, superstar motorcycle stunt rider Johnny Blaze (Nicolas Cage) made a deal with the devil to protect the ones he loved most. By day, Johnny is a die-hard stunt rider... but at night, in the presence of evil, he becomes the Ghost Rider, a bounty hunter of rogue demons. Forced to do the devil's bidding, Johnny is determined to confront his fate and use his curse and powers to defend the innocent.
