Cry of a Mother is about a mother being torn away from her family
by a traumatic situation, and how she struggles to stay alive. In
1970 during the Vietnam War, Sue Ann lived in Bangkok, Thailand
with her Air Force husband and two sons. She left one day to go to
the commissary and disappeared, taking a heavy toll on her family.
She tried to survive with the help of another mother, Tangus, who
was a Thai and spoke little English. With her newfound friend, they
used their life experiences to get through terrible situations.
With missiles surrounding her, she was struggling to live and
fighting thoughts about what was happening to her family. When Sue
Ann thought that she was safe, she only found herself facing
another wrenching life or death situation: fires and war tearing
families apart, storm tossed waves, ripping children from their
mother's arms, and barbaric gangs. Was she kidnapped by human
traffickers, or killed by drug runners? Did Sue Ann survive and
make it back to Bangkok to find her family, or was her family lost
to her? There seemed no end to her tragedies.
