The indignant protests thereby evoked from ministers of various
denominations, and Colonel Ingersoll's replies to the same. This
book never would have appeared had it not been for the sinister and
almost incredible bigotry of a Methodist clergyman who undertook to
organize a boycott against the New York Evening Telegram because it
printed a Christmas sermon written by Robert G. Ingersoll. This
volume contains the meat of the matter, including every important
utterance from the time of the Christmas sermon until the day of
publication.
