This study examines Roman sculpture across the provinces extending
from the Rhine to the Pyrenees and Britain to understand better
both regional similarities and local peculiarities, to
contextualize them historically, culturally, and geographically,
and to set them within wider patterns across the Empire. Sixteen
core sites are selected and the sculpture analysed in terms of
style, form and iconography.
