conference "For Joachim von Sandrart's 400th Birthday: A European
artist and theorist between Italy and Germany, " which took place
on 3 - 4 April 2006 at the Bibliotheca Hertziana. The essays
examine the various aspects of Joachim von Sandrart's activities
and underscores the European importance of this painter, art
theorist and historian of the 17th Century. In the panel section
numerous paintings of von Sandrart are published in color for the
first time. German text.
