designed to provide concise introductions to a broad range of
topics. They were written by experts for the general reader and
combined a comprehensive approach to knowledge with an emphasis on
accessibility. T. G. Bonney's The Work of Rain and Rivers was first
published in 1912 and reprinted in 1928. It offers a brief yet
clear account of the way that rain and rivers act to change the
landscape.
