This answer book provides model answers for Numicon Pupil Book 4,
along with an introduction from Dr Tony Wing and a planning chart
to show the key learning covered. Numicon builds a deep
understanding of maths through a multi-sensory approach, developing
children's fluency, reasoning and problem-solving. Numicon Pupil
Books are designed for children to use independently after whole
class teaching and learning has taken place. There is one Pupil
Book and Answer Book for each year group. These Key Stage 2
(Primary 4 to Primary 7) Pupil Books are divided into two sections:
Practice and Going Deeper. The Practice sections provide
independent practice to improve understanding and fluency, while
the Going Deeper sections provide open questions to challenge
pupils and deepen their conceptual understanding and develop
mastery. The four-page sections for each of the Activity Groups
follow the order of the long term plans in the Teaching Resource
Handbooks and reflect the content in the Focus activities, enabling
progress to be matched against the Milestones. The Numicon Pupil
Books have been tried and tested in the classroom.

Numicon builds a deep understanding of maths through a
multi-sensory approach, developing children's fluency, reasoning
and problem-solving. The Numicon Number, Pattern and Calculating 6
Explorer Progress Books support the activities in the Numicon
Number, Pattern and Calculating 6 Teaching Resource Handbook and
are a great assessment tool, allowing teachers to gather evidence
of children's achievements. The books contain fun and engaging
activities for children to complete. Each activity links to a topic
from the Teaching Resource Handbook, offering you opportunities to
assess individual children's understanding and monitor progress.
Children have the freedom to record their answers in their own way,
allowing you to see their thinking. The use of real-life contexts
allows you to assess children's ability to apply their mathematics
learning when faced with 'non-routine' problems. The Numicon
Number, Pattern and Calculating 6 Explorer Progress Book ABC mixed
pack contains 1 copy of : - Numicon Number Pattern and Calculating
6 Explorer Progress Book A - Numicon Number Pattern and Calculating
6 Explorer Progress Book B - Numicon Number Pattern and Calculating
6 Explorer Progress Book C.

Explore More Copymasters contain activities that can be sent home
with children. These activities offer further opportunities to
practise and discuss maths in a fun, engaging way. The book of
copymasters contains double-page spreads linked to topics from the
Teaching Resource Handbook, offering an opportunity for children to
practise and discuss maths outside of the classroom. Short, simple
instructions guide parents through the text and provide support for
them as they help their children to complete the activities.

The Numicon Number, Pattern and Calculating 6 Teaching Pack
comprises a Teaching Resource Handbook and an Implementation Guide,
providing the core materials you need to start teaching children
aged 10 to 11. The Teaching Resource Handbook provides step-by-step
activities for developing children's understanding of pattern,
algebra, number and calculating. With a great emphasis on
problem-solving through real-world contexts and practical planning
and assessment guidance, the Teaching Resource Handbook will
support you with developing children's mathematical understanding
using Numicon. Also included are photocopy masters, activities to
prepare children for formal testing and a series of investigations.
The Implementation Guide offers guidance on what Numicon is, gives
advice on how best to implement Numicon in your school and
describes the Key Mathematical Ideas that underpin work within this
year. With information on the theory behind Numicon, this guide
will inspire you in building a secure future in mathematics for all
children.
