An unflagging traveler and diarist, the Reverend Andrew Burnaby embarked on a two-year tour of the American colonies in 1759. Originally published in England in 1775, his account of his travels includes commentaries about people, politics, taxes, trade, and the state of the arts and sciences; detailed descriptions of the natural surroundings; amusing anecdotes; and predictions about the future of the colonies.
