Mit ihm werden Phanomene greifbar, die, einzeln betrachtet, wohl vielen bekannt, aber schlecht greifbar sind. Isoliert finden diese Phanomene zwar immer wieder Beachtung, nicht zuletzt deshalb, weil sie in bestimmten Auspragungsformen oft zum schlechten Klima einer Schule beitragen. Bei der Betrachtung des Innenlebens der Institution Schule aus soziologischer Sicht kann man sie jedoch gut aufschlusseln und als bestimmten Typus des alltaglichen Schulverhaltens in das Gesamtbild der Institution einfugen. Trotzdem wird das schulische Hinterbuhnengeschehen als solches schulpadagogisch wie schulpolitisch wenig beachtet. Ich mochte daher im Folgenden beschreiben, worum es sich dabei handelt und welches die Bedingungen sind, die solch eine Hinterbuhne entstehen lassen.

Daher gibt es zum Schulwahlverhalten in Deutschland bislang kaum Untersuchungen. Dabei bietet die genauere Beleuchtung dieser Phase die Moglichkeit, Zusammenhange und gewisse wiederkehrende Grundstrukturen elterlicher Vorgehensweisen besser zu verstehen und in der Folge auch adaquater auf bestimmte Sachverhalte in einem ubergeordneten Kontext eingehen zu konnen. So ist der Vergleich des Schulwahlverhaltens je nach sozialer Herkunft eine geeignete Herangehensweise, um uber Bildungsaspiration, die soziale Selbstpositionierung und damit uber Aufstiegschancen Aussagen machen zu konnen. Auch ware es fur die Wettbewerbsdiskussion forderlich zu wissen, welche Kriterien bei der Schulwahl fur Eltern und Kinder in den Blickpunkt rucken und vor allem, welche tatsachlich am Ende ausschlaggebend sind. Oder, um bei den oben genannten Beispielen zu bleiben, es wurde sich lohnen, die Auswirkungen von schulischem Leistungsdruck auf Familien und in der Folge auf ihr Verhaltnis zur Schule genauer zu untersuchen. Auch fur das Problem der Ghettoisierung mancher Schulen konnten Interviews mit Eltern uber ihre Wahrnehmung der Schulen erkenntnisfordernd sein. In der vorliegenden Arbeit sollen daher Erkenntnisse uber das Schulwahlverhalten im Allgemeinen gewonnen werden, indem es exemplarisch an verschiedenen Eltern anhand von Interviewanalysen untersucht wird.
