When studying medicine, healthcare, and medical sciences
disciplines, learners are frequently required to visualise and
understand complex three-dimensional concepts. Consequently, it is
important that appropriate modalities are used to support their
learning. Recently, educators have turned to new and existing
digital visualisation approaches when adapting to pandemic-era
challenges and when delivering blended post-pandemic teaching. This
book focuses on a range of key themes in anatomical and clinically
oriented education that can be enhanced through visual
understanding of the spatial three-dimensional arrangement and
structure of human patients. The opening chapters describe
important digital adaptations for the dissemination of biomedical
education to the public and to learners. These topics are followed
by reviews and reports of specific modern visualisation
technologies for supporting anatomical, biomedical sciences, and
clinical education. Examples include 3D printing, 3D digital
models, virtual histology, extended reality, and digital
simulation. This book will be of interest to academics, educators,
and communities aiming to modernise and innovate their teaching.
Additionally, this book will appeal to clinical teachers and allied
healthcare professionals who are responsible for the training and
development of colleagues, and those wishing to communicate
effectively to a range of audiences using multimodal digital
approaches.
Her mother sternly said, "Gene Stop that tap dancing right now
You're going to dance your way to hell " The first half of her life
surely felt that way - three sexual assaults, two abusive husbands,
three children for whom she was the sole provider. Nevertheless,
during that same period of her life, Gene and her violin went on a
summer tour with young Billy Graham. She was also given a TV
contract with the original Hank Williams Band in Montgomery,
Alabama, as twin fiddler. DANCING MY WAY THROUGH HELL focuses on
life struggles and a forgiving spirit which was the key to bringing
Gene through those experiences in six states from coast to coast
and leading her to an amazing future.
Originally published in London 1886. The illustrated contents
include: Accounts of fox-hunting and sport in 1885-6 in Cheshire -
Shropshire - Worcestershire - Staffordshire - Herefordshire -
Wales. Detailed accounts of red letter days and runs. Portraits and
illustrations by H.F. Mytton. Many of the earliest hunting books,
particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now
extremely scarce and increasingly expensive. Home Farm Books are
republishing these classic works in affordable, high quality,
modern editions, using the original text and artwork.
This book describes language diversity and classroom discourse:
language use in the classroom in which children are dialect
speakers. Specifically, the authors observed and videotaped a wide
range of activities including whole groups with the teacher, small
groups with and without the teacher, and one-on-one interaction, in
kindergarten, fourth- and sixth- grade classrooms. The book is a
description of what was found. Classroom language use is discussed
in terms of language functions. The book also includes a discussion
of why dialect is an issue and an overview of how dialect has been
dealt with by researchers and practitioners. Finally, dialect
diversity in the classroom is considered in light of the
relationship between language, education, and society at large. The
study is unique in that it provides a quantitative as well as
qualitative picture of language use in the classroom with dialect
speakers.
What you ll find in this monograph is nothing less than a
complete and rigorous study of modern functional analysis. It is
intended for the student or researcher who could benefit from
functional analytic methods, but who does not have an extensive
background in the subject and does not plan to make a career as a
functional analyst. It develops the topological structures in
connection with a number of topic areas such as measure theory,
convexity, and Banach lattices, as well as covering the analytic
approach to Markov processes. Many of the results were previously
available only in works scattered throughout the literature.
This book allows you to decide whether a living will is for you and
offers a plain English living will to make your wishes known and
how to grant an EPA allowing those you trust to manage your
affairs.

Over the last fifty years advanced mathematical tools have become
an integral part in the development of modern economic theory.
Economists continue to invoke sophisticated mathematical techniques
and ideas in order to understand complex economic and social
problems. In the last ten years the theory of Riesz spaces (vector
lattices) has been successfully applied to economic theory. By now
it is understood relatively well that the lattice structure of
Riesz spaces can be employed to capture and interpret several
economic notions. On April 16-20, 1990, a small conference on Riesz
Spaces, Positive Opera tors, and their Applications to Economics
took place at the California Institute of Technology. The purpose
of the conference was to bring mathematicians special ized in Riesz
Spaces and economists specialized in General Equilibrium together
to exchange ideas and advance the interdisciplinary cooperation
between math ematicians and economists. This volume is a collection
of papers that represent the talks and discussions of the
participants at the week-long conference. We take this opportunity
to thank all the participants of the conference, especially those
whose articles are contained in this volume. We also greatly ap
preciate the financial support provided by the California Institute
of Technology. In particular, we express our sincerest thanks to
David Grether, John Ledyard, and David Wales for their support.
Finally, we would like to thank Susan Davis, Victoria Mason, and
Marge D'Elia who handled the delicate logistics for the smooth
running of the confer ence."
Survivors of trauma are disproportionately represented in agencies
providing a broad range of behavioral, social, and mental health
services. Practitioners in these settings must understand and be
able to respond to survivors of trauma in ways that are empowering,
normalize and validate their experiences and reactions, and
minimize the risk of retraumatization. Practitioners also will be
indirectly traumatized as a result of their work with trauma
survivors. Practitioners' ability to help clients with histories of
trauma depends upon clinical supervision that is trauma-informed.
The trauma-informed supervisor has the dual responsibility of
enhancing supervisees' skills as trauma-informed practitioners and
helping them manage the impact their work has on them.
Nevertheless, many clinical supervisors only have limited knowledge
and training in trauma and may not recognize either the needs of
those whom they supervise or the clients their supervisees serve.
This book compiles important recommendations from trauma-informed
practitioners, supervisors, and researchers who share their
professional reflections and personal stories based on their
hands-on experiences across mental health and medical contexts.
This book was originally published as a special issue of The
Clinical Supervisor.
The classic edition of this groundbreaking book includes a new
preface from the authors discussing developments in the field since
the handbook's initial publication. Chapters provide an overview of
best principles and best practices in counseling supervision
process, one that is firmly rooted in the recent explosion of
empirical research in this field. Sponsored by the Association for
Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES), the book is targeted
primarily at master's-level practitioners who want practical,
how-to applications of the research literature rather than a
comprehensive review of the supervision literature. It's also a
useful supplement for more academic texts used for doctoral-level
instruction in counseling supervision.
