Reaching Net Zero: What It Takes to Solve the Global Climate Crisis
addresses the imminent need to fully understand the causes,
effects, and evidence of global warming; due to the large amount of
climate disinformation and complexity of much of the available
valid science, this book addresses the science of global warming in
a concise, readable manner while providing an in-depth reference
for readers who want more details or to study the sources of
information. This book also investigates potential practical next
steps of interest to concerned scientists, engineers, and citizens,
with an aim to further discuss and achieve the eventual
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 'Net Zero' goals.
Solving the problem of reaching net zero requires educating others
to support the changes that must occur and to provide the possible
solutions required. This is a necessary read for academics in
climate and environmental science, and specialists such as those in
earth science or environmental studies, covering the science,
technology, economics, politics, international, and other issues
involved in doing something about global warming. It is also
important for those interested in global warming and anyone
involved in decision-making processes and legislation that deal
with reduction in carbon footprints.
A 22-Essay Collection of the Issues. Our choice has never been so
crystal clear and so vital. We have reached another defining moment
in our country's history. Our future depends on the re-election of
President Obama. Do we really want to go back to the years of W. or
do we want someone who has and will move us forward into a
progressive future. The other side wants to again battle all the
fights of the past, and turn back the clock on all that has been
gained....We must all work to spread the word.... My 22-essay
collection of my perspective.... I am in no way naive enough to
believe that this election will be a referendum on the policies of
the other party; this election will be an assessment of the
policies and vision of President Obama. It is this very reason that
I have written these 22 essays illustrating from my perspective why
I believe President Obama must be re-elected and given an
opportunity to guide us into the future. In the pages to follow I
will describe in some detail how I have arrived at my conclusion. I
will discuss President Obama as a person, look at his domestic
policies and achievements, his foreign policies and achievements,
and finally I will provide my opinion on the policies of the other
party in more detail.
Although I relish the fact that I am black, through my life
experiences, I have concluded that this does not make me African
American. As a result, I realized that being black should not be
synonymous with being African American. This continued pairing has
allowed the slave masters of the Confederate South to continue and
define our identity. If we do not proclaim our individuality and
group distinctiveness, no black person can ever be seen for their
character. In addition our society will not be able to solve the
problems which persist in any particular community. Specifically,
the African American community because of their history suffers
from issues which are unique to them and have not been experienced
by other immigrant groups. In order to confront and overcome these
issues we must first realize that there is no black culture just
like there is no white culture. There is clearly a culture unique
to each group of black immigrants, as there are issues unique to
every white migrant group. African Americans have a culture grown
out of slavery, and we must examine the consequences which resulted
from the oppression and perpetual discrimination which followed. It
is only then will we be able to truly diagnose the problems and
arrive at possible solutions. Hence, America will never be able to
truly see people strictly for their character if they continue to
group us all solely by our color...
Along Minnesota's rugged north shore of Lake Superior, some call
Swift River the spirit of the wilderness. Others call him a
murderer. James Youngest, a young newspaperman from Philadelphia
visiting the Minnesota wilderness, knows the truth. He also knows
there are people who will stop at nothing to prevent the truth from
being told. James Youngest, coerced by his own conscience, assists
the elderly Indian through Minnesota's harsh north woods in order
to evade his pursuers. A breathtaking chase begins and Swift River
and James Youngest race toward a place the Indian calls the Two
Falls, a place where Swift River assures he will never be found.
Who is Swift River? James Youngest met him when he was eleven
years old during his only prior visit to the north shore. Swift
River had saved young James' life from a near drowning incident,
but immediately after saving him, he vanished into the woods. Now,
twelve years later, their paths cross again and it is James
Youngest's turn to save Swift River. During their desperate race,
Swift River reveals to James Youngest his extraordinary past and
his life as a Mandan. "The Last Race" finishes with a compelling
revelation and climax.
Two teenage boys are lost in Minnesota's rugged Boundary Waters
wilderness area. While struggling to survive, they're sucked into
the plots of two so-called fiction novels that one of the boys has
read. Every direction they turn leads them deeper into the
wilderness and into the extraordinary secrets and dangers
encompassing the books' plots. Perilously tangled up in mystery,
magic and suspense, the boys weave their way toward the books'
mystical island of Olyqua where they must face the ultimate
conflict between the forces of good and evil. Is it real? That's
the plaguing question as supernatural events get in their way and
unknown forces try to stop them.
