Outside In presents the newest scholarship that narrates and
explains the history of the United States as part of a networked
transnational past. This work tells the stories of Americans who
inhabited the border-crossing circuitry of people, ideas, and
institutions that have made the modern world a worldly place.
Forsaking manifestos of transnational history and surveys of
existing scholarship for fresh research, careful attention to
concrete situations and transactions, and original interpretation,
the vigorous, accomplished historians whose work is collected here
show how the transnational history of the United States is actually
being written. Ranging from high statecraft to political ferment
from below, from the history of religion to the discourse of
women's rights, from the political left to the political right,
from conservative businessmen to African diaspora radicals, this
set of original essays narrates U.S. history in new ways,
emphasizing the period from 1870 to the present. The essays in
Outside In demonstrate the inadequacy of any unidirectional concept
of "the U.S. and the world," although they stress the worldly
forces that have shaped Americans. At the same time, these essays
disrupt and complicate the very idea of simple inward and outward
flows of influence, showing how Americans lived within
transnational circuits featuring impacts and influences running in
multiple directions. Outside In also transcends the divide between
work focusing on the international system of nation-states and
transnational history that treats non-state actors exclusively. The
essays assembled here show how to write transnational history that
takes the nation-state seriously, explaining that governments and
non-state actors were never sealed off from one another in the
modern world. These essays point the way toward a more concrete and
fully internationalized vision of modern American history.

War. The futile assaults by Federal soldiers against the

behind the lines of confrontation to discover the strategies and
blunders that contributed to one of the most memorable battles of
the Civil War.

After dozens of books and articles by anonymous sources, here,
finally, is a history of the Trump White House, with the President
and his staff talking openly and on the record. In Inside Trump's
White House, Doug Wead offers a sweeping, eloquent history of
President Donald J. Trump's first years in the White House,
covering everything from election night to the biggest political
obstacles of his presidency. The book will include
never-before-reported stories and scoops, including how President
Trump turned around the American economy, how he "never complains
and never explains", and insight into how his actions sometimes
lead to misunderstandings with the media and the public. Inside
Trump's White House features exclusive interviews with the Trump
family about the Mueller Report, and narrates their reactions when
the report was finally released. Wead successfully gained
interviews with the President in the Oval Office, chief of staff
Mick Mulvaney, Jared and Ivanka Kushner, Donald Trump Jr, Eric and
Lara Trump, and White House insiders for this illuminating history.
After my heart bypass operation, I continued on writing my other
three books. It was late 2006 when thoughts began drifting through
my mind about my operation. I had just recently had one memory
thought drifted onto another memory thought, and on and on my
memory thoughts went. I now scratch my head, I think to myself, I
have a good true to the fact story to write here and that's how
this story that you are about to read now was borne. Everything I
have written is purely from memory. I never wrote anything down at
the time of it all happening. I didn't know I was going to write a
story about it. I recalled all what the hospital staff had told me
at the time of it all happening; such people as the nurses,
doctors, anaesthetist, cardiologist, heart surgeon etc etc. I was
always asking them questions about what they were doing and why
they were doing it, always putting my nose in maybe when I should
have kept my nose out, but it all paid off in the end and you can
now read my actual story of how it all happened.
This book tells the story of my days in, and my love of, the fields
and countryside, starting when I was just a small lad, learning the
ways and the fine art of poaching. I am in my early fifties now,
with nearly a lifetime of experiences behind me. This book records
all of my antics, my escapades and closely-kept secrets. I tell all
the different ways of rabbit catching, plus many of the poaching
tricks I have mastered over those bygone years. In my opinion, it
is a book to be passed on down the generations, for the
up-and-coming young rabbiting lads who want to learn the fine art
of rabbit catching and mastering the art of growing wild moorland
heather up on the hill tops.
Making Paper Airplanes doesn't feel like science. And it's not
quite art. Near as we can figure, it's magic. Paper Airplanes fly
because of good, old reliable physics. And it takes a sharp eye and
a clean fold to make them right. But launching a regular old piece
of paper into the sky so that it soars, loops and glides - that's
pure magic. We present here a complete guide to folding aerobatic
amazements. The ten airplanes in this book are the best we've ever
seen: esy to make, forgiving of mistakes, attractive and
flight-ready under all kinds of conditions. Clear instructions and
step-by-step illustrations make even the most impressive planes kid
do-able, while trimming and tweaking tips give basic principles of
flight instant real-world relevance. This big book comes complete
with 40 sheets of flight-tested, ready-to-fold paper, printed on
both sides in a variety of 20 colourful patterns, including leopard
print, wood grain, hot rod flames and lose-it-on-the-lawn grass.
It's everything you need to rule the skies.
