This book (hardcover) is part of the TREDITION CLASSICS. It
contains classical literature works from over two thousand years.
Most of these titles have been out of print and off the bookstore
shelves for decades. The book series is intended to preserve the
cultural legacy and to promote the timeless works of classical
literature. Readers of a TREDITION CLASSICS book support the
mission to save many of the amazing works of world literature from
oblivion. With this series, tredition intends to make thousands of
international literature classics available in printed format again
- worldwide.
Once in a lifetime an astonishing true story comes along that not
only captivates but also makes you re-evaluate your beliefs. Red
Amaryllis is one of those stories. So, get ready for a thought-
provoking and remarkable true story of a naive couple pitted
against one of the world's financial giants in a decade- long legal
battle which will evoke amazement and horror at the lengths
corporate avarice will go to. David Vs Goliath is nothing on the
even more amazing fight-back from Denise and Michael, two
determined and relentless individuals. However, there is much more
to this story than meets the eye. Denise's desperation transforms
her into a survivor...a bona fide juggernaut and force of nature
who refuses to take 'no' for an answer. In a story which smartly
mixes unflagging inspiration with humour, it slowly becomes clear
that in her drive to win her case, her uncanny ability to uncover
hidden evidence has far greater implications. Denise's life journey
will demonstrate her extraordinary and proven ability to unlock the
past, expose the present, and see the future when, in a dramatic
twist, the story showcases a terrifying warning to us all. For the
past 36 years Denise has foreseen an atomic WWIII looming, and now
it is just a few short years away - unless we all make our voices
heard and demand that those with power turn back from the brink.
The future of the planet is in our hands and time is running out.
In recent years, newspaper articles, television specials, and other
media events have focused on the numerous hard decisions faced by
today's youth, often pointing to teen pregnancy, drug use, and
delinquency as evidence of faulty judgment. Over the past 10 years,
many groups - including parents, educators, policymakers, and
researchers - have become concerned about the decision-making
abilities of children and adolescents, asking why they make risky
choices, how they can be taught to be better decision makers, and
what types of age-related changes occur in decision making. This
book serves as a starting point for those interested in considering
new ways of thinking about the development of these issues. The
purpose is to bring together the voices of several authors who are
conducting cutting-edge research and developing new theoretical
perspectives related to the development of judgment and decision
making. The Development of Judgment and Decision Making in Children
and Adolescents is divided into three parts: Part I presents three
distinctive developmental models that offer different explanations
of "what develops" and the relative importance of different
cognitive components and experiential components that may be
important for developing judgment and decision making skills. Part
II emphasizes the emotional, cultural, and social aspects of
decision making--three topics that have been influential in the
adult literature on judgment and decision making but are just
beginning to be explored in the developmental area. Part III
provides three examples of research that applies developmental and
decision making models to practical research questions. This book
is intended for the professional market or for graduate courses on
decision making or cognitive or social development.

This book is devoted to some of the problems encountered in the
theory of sophisticated signals used in radar. The term
sophisticated signal is under stood to mean a signal for which the
product of the signal duration by the spectrum width substantially
exceeds unity. Although it is impossible to draw an exact
borderline between simple and sophisticated signals, the term
"sophisticated signal" is sufficient to define one of the principal
characteristics of modern radar. Recently, various sophisticated
signals (frequency-modulated pulses, coded groups, phase-modulated
signals, etc.) have found use in radar. This makes it possible to
improve the resolution, to ensure simultaneous measurements of the
range and range rate of a target, to elecrically scan over finite
angular dimensions, etc. Although the realization of such
potentialities is associated with substantial difficulties, one can
say with certainty that "classical" radar technology, which uses
simple signals at constant frequency and duty cycle, yields to more
complex methods based on the use of wide-band signals of the
sophisticated structure. The properties of radar signals, which
characterize the measurement of a target's range and range rate,
are described by the Woodward ambiguity function. The role of this
function is similar to that of the antenna pattern, i.e., the
ambiguity function defines the accuracy and resolution of the range
and range rate measurements to the same extent as the antenna
pattern de fines the accuracy and resolution of the azimuth and
elevation measurements."
Tonight, millions of us will battle insomnia. We will plump
pillows, rehash arguments, fold laundry, take sleeping pills, and
watch TV. They'll seek sleep but not find it. According to the
National Sleep Foundation in the States, up to a third of all
Americans suffer from occasional or chronic wakefulness.
Prescriptions for sleeping pills have increased 60 per cent in six
years, even though recent medical research (Journal of American
Medicine, June 2006) shows that behavioural therapies such as
Restful Insomnia are more effective for sleeplessness than pills.
"The Restful Insomnia" five-part programme is easy to make a part
of each night's rest by offering techniques that help the
sleep-deprived to accept insomnia, befriend the night, and greet
the morning refreshed. "Restful Insomnia" shows readers how to end
the war with sleeplessness by learning to use their waking night
hours to quiet the mind, replenish their inner creativity, and
relax deeply - deriving many benefits of sleep.
Computed Tomography (CT) has recently gained in importance in the
imaging of the heart.? A basis for the use of CT is provided with
articles on normal anatomy as well as anomalies, patient
preparation and scanning techniques, and technology and radiation
dose reduction strategies.? Evaluation of plaques and stenosis,
bypass grafts and stents, and myocardial abnormities and ischemia
are reviewed.? Acute chest pain and congenital heart disease are
just two of the other topics included in this issue.
Fifty Years of Peeling Away the Lead Paint Problem: Saving Our
Children's Future with Healthy Housing documents the history of
childhood lead poisoning from paint between 1970 and 2022. Tracing
the failure of the medical model (treatment after exposure) that
marked the 1970s and 1980s and its replacement with a prevention
housing-focused effort, the book documents the changes in health,
housing and environmental science and policy. It is the first book
to examine how the lead poisoning law in the U.S. was passed in
1992 and later implemented, with implications for the future, in
particular, the emergence of a healthy housing movement. The book
describes the roles played by Congress, various administrations,
agencies, local governments, the private sector, researchers, and a
popular citizen's movement, especially parents. The role of the
courts is discussed, including a controversial lead paint case on
research ethics in Baltimore through an environmental justice lens.
This book is the first to examine another recent case in
California, where ten local jurisdictions established a precedent
by successfully suing the lead paint industry to help pay for
abatement.
Practical Patch Testing and Chemical Allergens in Contact
Dermatitis covers the most relevant allergens in a concise and
algorithmic fashion, with practical tips for patch testing. This
book assists practitioners and trainees with educating patients on
how to avoid their irritants and allergens to effectively manage
contact dermatitis. Clinical pearls for patch testing of certain
allergens are clearly outlined in this book to help providers avoid
common pitfalls and reduce the risk of incorrect diagnoses, making
it an essential reference for all involved in the treatment of
contact dermatitis.
Writing Instruction for Generation 2.0 addresses many of the
concerns teachers have about the impact of the digital world on
student writing and suggests ways for teachers to approach these
issues within a 21st century literacies framework. This book is not
about teaching the writing process, running a writing workshop, or
using specific digital tools to support writing instruction.
Forward-thinking teachers who wish to understand the 21st century
literacies, understand what youth are doing in respect to those
literacies, and discover how they can apply this knowledge to
classroom instruction will find answers to their questions. The
chapters include specific suggestions, but those suggestions are
meant as a jumping-off point for imaginative and innovative
teachers to adapt to meet the specific needs of students in their
classrooms.
