When I first read E. M. Bounds' eight books on prayer, I was certain there was no need for anyone else to ever write another book on prayer, that Bounds had said it all, and said it much better than anyone else could possibly say it. I felt the same way when I reread the eight books about three years later, and the several times I read them after that. I especially liked his book on The Possibilities of Prayer. It opened my mind and heart to how unlimited prayer is. A wonderful book - just wonderful And all eight of his books on prayer are in this one volume - what a treasure '' (Harold J. Chadwick) This edition is in two volumes. The first volume ISBN is 9781459633292.
Purpose in Prayer, another treasure from Edward Bounds on prayer, shows how prayer is the Christian's lifeline to God. Through prayer, lives truly are changed for eternity. E. M. Bounds knew the secrets of prayer and God's principles for supplying all needs. In Purpose of Prayer, Bounds shares many of his most cherished teachings on the life of prayer, which is the only effective barrier against the powers of evil so prevalent in this present world. In the words of Bounds, "The more praying there is in the world the better the world will be, the mightier the forces against evil everywhere. Prayer, in one phase of its operation, is a disinfectant and a preventive. It purifies the air; it destroys the contagion of evil. Prayer is no fitful, shortlived thing. It is no voice crying unheard and unheeded in the silence. It is a voice which goes into God's ear, and it lives as long as God's ear is open to holy pleas, as long as God's heart is alive to holy things."

"The Possibilities of Prayer" by E.M. Bounds focuses on guidelines for establishing and maintaining a vital prayer life. Bounds does a masterful job of explaining that we have not because we ask not: God's promises are dependent and conditioned upon prayer. He also discusses how God's promises are specific, personal and directed towards individuals. The answers to His promises are the result of earnest prayer. Nothing is too hard for God God can withhold nothing from faith and prayer. Undue worry and anxiety about earthly concerns can be eliminated by prayer. God is concerned about the smallest things in our lives. Bounds also explains how Great faith enables Christ to do great things. In the anxious world of today, our Heavenly Father can, through prayer, quiet every distraction, hush every anxiety, and lift every care from care-enslaved lives. Other points brought out by Bounds include that God's presence and power will be most felt in the prayer closet, answers to prayer result from abiding in Christ, and that Christ requires specific praying and responds to specific prayers with specific answers. In this book, readers will also learn that prayer is simply asking God to do for us what He has promised us He will do if we ask Him. A lot of power is packed into this small book. Read, enjoy, and be challenged and encouraged

Originally published as "Preacher and Prayer," this title is an established classic in the literature of prayer in the Christian tradition. Trained as a lawyer, but called to ministry, Bounds served as an Army chaplain during the Civil War. As far as prayer is concerned, Bounds practiced what he preached. His personal prayer regimen called him to prayer for three hours every morning. Bounds did not consider his time in prayer as idle time, but a time that was effective in changing the world through the power and grace of God. Read Bounds' "Power Through Prayer" to enrich your understanding of God's work in the world. "Power through Prayer" was written especially to convict, exhort, and encourage those who preach God's word that the secret of successful ministry is prayer and communion with the Lord. The book's twenty chapters have titles like "Men of Prayer Needed," "Our Sufficiency is of God," "Prayer, the Great Essential," "Examples of Praying Men," and "Heart Preparation Necessary." Characteristic of all books by this author, each chapter begins with one or more inspiring quotations from the writings of others who have realized the importance of prayer and its power to change the world. Pray, Pray and Pray some more God loves it and the Devil hates it. In The Reality of Prayer Bounds explores how prayer is A Privilege, Princely & Sacred, how it Fills Man's Poverty with God's Riches, Our Lord's Model Prayer, The Holy Spirit and Prayer and much more. The word "Prayer" expresses the largest and most comprehensive approach unto God. It gives prominence to the element of devotion. It is communion and intercourse with God. It is enjoyment of God. It is access to God. "Supplication" is a more restricted and more intense form of prayer, accompanied by a sense of personal need, limited to the seeking in an urgent manner of a supply for pressing need. "Supplication" is the very soul of prayer in the way of pleading for some one thing, greatly needed, and the need intensely felt. E. M. Bounds offered perhaps a more profound understanding of prayer than any other contemporary Christian thinker. His classic books on the personal communication with God explore how prayer must come from the whole being and strengthens faith in Christian lives.
"Prayer And Praying Men" by E.M. Bounds focuses on the lives of godly men in the Bible. In this time-honored book, Bounds shows how we can turn to God in prayer-for deliverance-when trouble arises in our lives. Many encouraging stories and examples of prayer, drawn from the Bible, are included as encouragement. E. M. Bounds shows how prayer really does influence the actions of God, and that those who know God the best are the highest and most powerful in prayer. He also demonstrates how God hears, heeds, answers, and delivers by prayer. Humility, intensity, and boldness are all proper attitudes when praying to God, and saints today can expect deliverance when they pray in the same way as the saints of old. "Prayer and Praying Men," another great title by Bounds, will encourage and challenge you to further improve your prayer life.
