Relational Matching (Paperback, 1992 ed.): George Vosselman Relational Matching (Paperback, 1992 ed.)
George Vosselman
R1,562 Discovery Miles 15 620 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

Relational matching is a method for finding the best correspondences betweenstructural descriptions. It is widely used in computer vision for the recognition and location of objects in digital images. For this purpose, the digital images and the object models are represented by structural descriptions. The matching algorithm then has to determine which image elements and object model parts correspond. This book is the result of abasic study of relational matching. The book focuses particularly on the evaluation of correspondences. In order to find the best match, one needs a measure to evaluate the quality of a match. The author reviews the evaluation measures that have been suggested over the past few decades and presents a new measure based on information theory. The resulting theorycombines matching strategies, information theory, and tree search methods. For the benefit of the reader, comprehensive introductions are given to all these topics.

Airborne and Terrestrial Laser Scanning (Hardcover): George Vosselman, Hans-Gerd Maas Airborne and Terrestrial Laser Scanning (Hardcover)
George Vosselman, Hans-Gerd Maas
R2,301 Discovery Miles 23 010 Ships in 12 - 19 working days

Written by a team of international experts, this book provides a comprehensive overview of the major applications of airborne and terrestrial laser scanning. The book focuses on principles and methods and presents an integrated treatment of airborne and terrestrial laser scanning technology. Laser scanning is a relatively young 3D measurement technique offering much potential in the acquisition of precise and reliable 3D geodata and object geometries. However, there are many terrestrial and airborne scanners on the market, accompanied by numerous software packages that handle data acquisition, processing and visualization, yet existing knowledge is fragmented over a wide variety of publications, whether printed or electronic. This book brings together the various facets of the subject in a coherent text that will be relevant for advanced students, academics and practitioners. After consideration of the technology and processing methods, the book turns to applications. The primary use thus far has been the extraction of digital terrain models from airborne laser scanning data, but many other applications are considered including engineering, forestry, cultural heritage, extraction of 3D building models and mobile mapping.
