It takes them a long time to appreciate the existence of a new situation and a longer time to adapt themsevles to it. Young teacher Everett, hoping to make a good impression in his first job, finds that bullying and gambling among his boys are the least of his worries. Caught in the middle of his new wife Nadia's restlessness, his fellow teachers' apathy and the headteacher's secrets, Everett becomes an unlikely detective.
