This book presents a comprehensive overview of the recent advances
in the domain of optimal guidance, exploring the characteristics of
various optimal guidance algorithms and their pros and cons.
Optimal guidance is based on the concept of trajectory
optimization, which minimizes the meaningful performance index
while satisfying certain terminal constraints, and by properly
designing the cost function the guidance command can serve as a
desired pattern for a variety of mission objectives. The book
allows readers to gain a deeper understanding of how optimal
guidance law can be utilized to achieve different mission
objectives for missiles and UAVs, and also explores the physical
meaning and working principle of different new optimal guidance
laws. In practice, this information is important in ensuring
confidence in the performance and reliability of the guidance law
when implementing it in a real-world system, especially in
aerospace engineering where reliability is the first priority.
Spanning across continents and generations, Jason Eng Hun Lee's
ambitious first collection maps the poet's formative childhood
experiences in Borneo and his subsequent transplantation and coming
of age in the UK. Ranging from the lush, verdant countryside of the
poet's multiracial upbringing to the proud, iconic national
landmarks of London, Beds in the East portrays through gorgeous
psychic landscapes the persistent presence of ancestral voices and
the desire to embrace multitudes. This tale speaks to an entire
generation of people travelling between worlds: of departures and
arrivals, love and loss, and of identities in constant flux.

Strategy as Action presents an action plan for how firms can build,
improve, and defend their competitive advantage at every stage of
their life cycle. For start-up firms entering a market, it provides
a model for exploiting competitive uncertainty and blind spots; for
growth firms who have established some market advantages, it
provides an action plan for exploiting relative resources; for
mature firms, it explains how to exploit market position; finally,
for firms that have no decisive resource advantage, it provides an
action plan based on firm co-operative reactions.
Throughout world history, some military personnel have committed
crimes. However, many times this social phenomenon has been ignored
by scholars. To add to the study of military crime, this study
investigates crimes committed by U.S. military personnel stationed
in different countries. This study utilizes data collected by the
U.S. Army Judiciary between 1995 and 2000 to examine crimes
committed by U.S. Army personnel stationed in the continental U.S.
and in foreign countries, i.e., European countries and South Korea.
The data contain 2,795 military crime cases. Findings indicate that
drunken married male soldiers, who are sergeants or staff sergeants
in combat operation units, are more likely to commit violent crime
than other personnel, and that married soldiers who are stationed
in Korea are more likely to commit sex offenses than others. The
results from this study should be useful to military authorities
who oversee any types of military or paramilitary organizations or
anyone else who may be interested in military sociology, its
subculture, and/or ramifications of military socialization.
