Over the course of his distinguished career, Robert Strichartz (1943-2021) had a substantial impact on the field of analysis with his deep, original results in classical harmonic, functional, and spectral analysis, and in the newly developed analysis on fractals. This is the first volume of a tribute to his work and legacy, featuring chapters that reflect his mathematical interests, written by his colleagues and friends. An introductory chapter summarizes his broad and varied mathematical work and highlights his profound contributions as a mathematical mentor. The remaining articles are grouped into three sections – functional and harmonic analysis on Euclidean spaces, analysis on manifolds, and analysis on fractals – and explore Strichartz’ contributions to these areas, as well as some of the latest developments.

The fourth Yearbook of the Central and Eastern European Forum of Young Legal, Political and Social Theorists reassesses central concepts of modern constitutionalism between the poles of law and politics: separation of powers, constitutional review, and constitutional rights and obligations. Fourteen legal scholars and political scientists from the region contribute to interrelated debates in both disciplines. Two questions are particularly raised: How can the aforementioned concepts be understood? And: Which role do they play in current national and supra-national institutions? The contributions to this edited volume discuss constitutional politics in 20 Central and Eastern European countries. The country chapters describe all constitutional amendments and new constitutions after the first post-communist constitution-making, all failed amendment attempts, and the political discourses about constitutional politics. Framed by a broad comparative chapter, the country studies are embedded in the established literature on constitutional politics. The book thus provides a better understanding of constitutional politics in the region and beyond.

Geogr., Geomorphologie, Umweltforschung, Note: 1,0, Universitat Leipzig (Institut fur Geographie), Veranstaltung: Aktuelle Forschungsfelder der Physischen Geographie, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Der Botaniker, Siedlungsgeograph und Landeskundler Robert Gradmann (1865 bis 1950) stellte im ausgehenden 19. Jahrhundert fur den suddeutschen Raum die bis dahin prazedenzlose These auf, die ersten jungsteinzeitlichen Ackerbauern hatten bei ihrer Ankunft aus dem vorderen Orient eine allenfalls luckenhaft bewaldete Landschaft vorgefunden. Die grossen Lichtungen und waldfreien Stellen hatten ihnen seiner Meinung nach die Landnahme ausserordentlich erleichtert, da nicht erst muhsame Rodungen vorgenommen werden mussten. Anlass zu diesem Postulat gab eine von Gradmann durchgefuhrte pflanzensoziologische Aufnahme der Schwabischen Alb, bei der er uberraschend viele Steppenpflanzen erkannte, woraus er auf ein zeitliches Zusammenfallen von steppenahnlicher Vegetation und fruher Besiedlung schloss. Gradmanns Untersuchungen wirkten geradezu katalytisch auf ein Heer von Wissenschaftlern, die sich die Aufgabe stellten, die Standortanspruche der ersten Siedler und deren landschaftswirksames Handeln zu dechiffrieren. Urgeschichtliche Forschung bezeichnete GRADMANN (1924, S.241) schon sehr fruh als ein "verwickeltes Grenzgebiet" zwischen Geographie, Geologie, Archaologie und Botanik, womit er ideologisch das Tor fur fachubergreifende Disziplinen wie die Geoarchaologie oder die Archaobotanik weit aufstiess.
