BBC television drama based on Neil Brand's acclaimed radio play,
imagining the final moments in the relationship between comic duo
Oliver Hardy and Stan Laurel. Jim Norton stars as the depressive
Stan Laurel, who somewhat reluctantly goes to visit his friend and
long-time collaborator Oliver Hardy (Mike Goodenough) on his death
bed in 1957, Hardy having suffered a stroke some months earlier.
The story tracks the lives and work of Stan and Ollie in a series
of flashbacks, and portrays the (almost one-sided, as Stan does
most of the talking) conversation between the two men as they bid
their final farewells after a lifetime of sharing the world's
spotlight.
