One Red Shirt is a collection of stories detailing Michael's travels and adventures in Asia. He grew up in White Bear Lake, Minnesota and always felt destined to do something daring and out of the ordinary. Somehow he felt he was different but couldn't put his finger on it. After completing his MBA, he decided to walk away from the start of a promising career as a business consultant and surprised co-workers and family by moving to Hong Kong, having never been out of North America, with no experience with Asian culture and no job. What started as a short term adventure turned into 10 years as he found himself in the midst of the pioneering Asian satellite television industry throughout the 1990s. Based in Hong Kong, he traveled extensively throughout Asia and beyond, encountering numerous cultures first hand and evolving both personally and professionally. One Red Shirt reveals his challenges with foreignness while maintaining a healthy dose of wonder and humor.
