THE DA VINCI CODE tapped a deep fascination for the sacred feminine
hidden at the heart of Christianity. Best-selling author Tim Ward
digs deeper into this mystery, propelling the reader into the
pre-Christian Goddess religions of the Mediterranean. Ward
confronts tough questions * Are men threatened by the innate power
of the feminine? * Why do men abuse, rape, and dominate women?
Shouldnt loving relationships with the opposite sex be natural and
easy? * Did we all lose an essential part of ourselves when we
turned our back on the feminine divine? * How would opening to the
feminine face of God help men resolve their issues with women? *
What would it take for men to really let go of patriarchy and
genuinely accept women as equals? To answer these questions, Ward
decided to seek out the Goddess, with his own demons in tow. Over a
period of three years he travelled to the ruined temples and
shrines of the Goddess in the cradles of Western Civilization. At
each he encountered one aspect of the many faces of the Goddess. He
vividly recreates the experience of ancient believers the
Eleusinian Mysteries of Demeter, the sexual rites of the
priestesses of Aphrodite, and a human sacrifice on a mountaintop
shrine in Crete. And in Turkey he sits at the feet of the
many-breasted Artemis of Ephesus, whose rioting followers once
threatened to kill the Apostle Paul. Facing the Goddess unleashes
turbulent emotions for Ward. With frank honesty he describes the
traumas that erupt in his relationship with the woman he loves, who
accompanied him on many of his journeys.
In the aftermath of the pandemic, author Tim Ward and his wife,
Teresa, decided to leave their home and professional careers in the
US to spend a year in Europe as flâneurs. The French word
"flâneur" means one who “wanders without purpose, observing
society.†As the French literary critic Sainte-Beuve explained
it, to flâne “is the very opposite of doing nothing.†Indeed,
it is to give yourself the gift of time: permission to live an
unstructured life and, by so doing, discover something about the
world, and about yourself.Â
The Human Rights Act 1998 provides for a form of incorporation of
the European Convention on Human Rights into English law for the
first time. This text provides practical guidance on the complex
interplay between the Act and judicial review. The procedural
complexities created by the Act are explored, as are the effects
upon existing doctrines of judicial review, such as natural justice
and the Wednesbury test.

How can we turn back the tide of post-truth politics, fake news,
and misinformation that is damaging our democracy? First, by
empowering citizens to recognize and resist political lies and
deceptions: Using cutting-edge neuroscience research, we show you
the tricks post-truth politicians use to exploit our mental
blindspots and cognitive biases. We then share with you strategies
to protect yourself and others from these threats. Second, by
addressing the damage caused by the spread of fake news on social
media: We provide you with effective techniques for fighting
digital misinformation. Third, by exerting pressure on politicians,
media, and other public figures: Doing so involves creating new
incentives for telling the truth, new penalties for lying, and new
ways of communicating across the partisan divide. To put this plan
into action requires the rise of a Pro-Truth Movement - a movement
which has already begun, and is making a tangible impact. If you
believe truth matters, and want to protect our democracy, please
read this book, and join us. In the lead up to the 2020 US
Presidential Election, Dr. Gleb Tsipursky and Tim Ward have teamed
up to help citizens learn to protect themselves from lies, and
empower them to put truth back into politics.

'It's always been difficult to get published. But up till the last
couple of decades, if you managed to get published, you were sure
of some sales, or at least that your publisher would work hard to
get them with a reasonable prospect of results. It's a different
world now. With electronic point of sale, print on demand, internet
bookselling, new delivery formats like e-readers, several hundred
thousand new titles in English coming out every year, a lot of what
was said 6 years ago or even 6 months ago is now out of date. A few
years ago when we started O Books I began writing down notes for
new authors, based on questions they kept asking. It soon turned
into a 100 page document. One of the authors it was a particular
joy to work with was Tim Ward. We thought it would be helpful for
others to share our thoughts, coming as they do from both sides of
the fence'.'But there are titles around on every conceivable aspect
of publishing and marketing books, from how to improve your style
to increasing your sales through Amazon, finding the motivation to
keep going or appearing on "Oprah". Why did we think another book
would be helpful? Most focus either from the self-publishing end,
from the viewpoint of an author who doesn't have a publisher, or
from the perspective of mainstream publishers/publicists used to
dealing with $50,000-plus publicity budgets. In our business we
deal with the middle ground, where most real-life authors are and
most potential ones hope to be'.'A company recently tracked the
sales of 1.2 million books in the US, and the results were: 950,000
of these sold fewer than 100 copies; another 200,000 sold fewer
than 1,000 copies; 25,000 sold more than 5,000 copies; less than
500 sold more than 100,000 copies; and, 10 titles sold more than
1,000,000 copies. The average sale was 500 copies. If your aim is
to get above the average, or to reach it (because that includes J K
Rowling etc.), to the level of 1000, on to 10,000 and up to 100,000
copies, this is the book for you. If you've already sold that many,
you don't need this'.
