The recent disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic have shaken
the fundamental foundations of global business to their core,
creating unprecedented challenges for management scholars and
practitioners. In addition, over the past few decades, the general
adoption of communication technologies and the evolving trends
towards digitalization and Industry 4.0 have revolutionized the way
organizations are managed and led. Business model innovation and
the developing importance of sustainability have also emerged as
strategic platforms for all types of organizations. Technology-led
managerial transformation has now become critical for 21st century
business. This book investigates four approaches in understanding
the perspectives for integrating technology with holistic
development: a Civilizational Approach, which integrates cultural,
historical as well as geographical nuances in a way totally
different from the Western positivistic models; a Stakeholder
Approach, which involves moving away from a mere participant or
observer role and embracing the 'Stakeholder' role; a Knowledge
Partnership Approach, which lays the foundations of India's
technology-led development through education, training, research
and talent management; and a Strategic Development Approach, which
unlocks the economic growth and wealth creation potential by keying
marketing and branding at the ecosystem level.

This comprehensive study examines the global strategies of
multinational corporations (MNCs), the strategic evolution and the
categories of their subsidiaries in China based on 150 MNCs. It is
the first large-scale project of this nature to be conducted. The
research has significant bearing on strategic planning for firms
that have set up, are setting up or are planning to establish
subsidiaries in China, and the firms that try to compete in the
global marketplace. The findings are significant for the West,
owing to the current economic crisis and the need to determine if
subsidiary expansion strategies will help Western firms achieve the
portfolio effects in operations and avoid the harmful impact of
macro events such as the existing global financial crisis.
Additional empirical findings, analysis, discussions, and
suggestions for future studies are also presented.
Culture, Leadership, and Organizations reports the results of a
ten-year research program, the Global Leadership and Organizational
Behavior Effectiveness (GLOBE) research program. GLOBE is a
long-term program designed to conceptualize, operationalize, test,
and validate a cross-level integrated theory of the relationship
between culture and societal, organizational, and leadership
effectiveness. A team of 160 scholars worked together since 1994 to
study societal culture, organizational culture, and attributes of
effective leadership in 62 cultures. Culture, Leadership, and
Organizations: The GLOBE Study of 62 Societies reports the findings
of the first two phases of GLOBE. The book is primarily based on
the results of the survey of over 17,000 middle managers in three
industries: banking, food processing, and telecommunications, as
well as archival measures of country economic prosperity and the
physical and psychological well-being of the cultures studied.
GLOBE has several distinguishing features. First, it is truly a
cross-cultural research program. The constructs were defined,
conceptualized, and operationalized by the multicultural team of
researchers. Second, the industries were selected through a polling
of the country investigators, and the instruments were designed
with the full participation of the researchers representing the
different cultures. Finally, the data in each country were
collected by investigators who were either natives of the cultures
studied or had extensive knowledge and experience in that culture.
A unique feature of this book is that while it is an edited book
and many experts have written the different chapters, unlike other
edited books, it is a fully integrated, seamless, and cohesive book
covering the many aspects of the theory underpinning the GLOBE.
Leadership Across the Globe aims to serve a growing interest in how
to lead in a global or cross-cultural environment. This book
focuses on the corporate setting, with illustrations, theories, and
evidence from various regions around the world. The book includes
coverage of culture and diversity issues in leadership, as well as
a comprehensive, detailed exploration of the comparative aspects of
leadership. Generously illustrated with cases, boxed profiles,
figures, and examples from a wide range of organizations, this is a
relevant resource for anyone seeking a leadership career on a
global scale, in multinational enterprises, or in a multi-cultural
context.
