Ensemble drama following immigrants from around the globe as they struggle to achieve American residency in the city of Los Angeles. The film weaves a web of interrelated personal stories about attempts to cross the border with South America, forged documents, the asylum and green card process, illegal employment and terrorism. Harrison Ford stars as tough but sensitive Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent Max Brogan, who along with his Iranian-American partner Hamid (Cliff Curtis) deals daily with a slew of deportation cases. Ray Liotta, Alice Eve, Ashley Judd and Jim Sturgess co-star.
If these walls could talk, you wouldn't believe them anyway! Get ready for a wild ride as one small town pawn shop is the center of three intersecting stories involving meth heads, a vengeful husband searching for his long lost wife, and a down on his luck Elvis Impersonator. A star-studded ensemble cast brings these stories to life that includes Fast & The Furious's Paul Walker, Academy-Award nominee Matt Dillon, The Lord of the Rings' Elijah Woods, Brendan Fraser, and The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus. From Wayne Kramer, director of The Cooler and Running Scared.
Romantic drama starring William H. Macy as Bernie Lootz, a lonely middle-aged man with terrible luck who owes the Shangri-La casino in Las Vegas, owned by old-fashioned mob boss Shelly Kaplow (Alec Baldwin), over $100 000. To repay his debt, he works for Shelly as a 'cooler' - someone who plays alongside high rollers to stop them from winning too much. His life takes a turn for the better when he falls in love with cocktail waitress Natalie (Maria Bello), and he experiences real happiness for the first time in years. But when his luck starts to spill over onto the gambling floor, Shelly is none too impressed, and sets out to sabotage the most important thing in Bernie's life: his relationship with Natalie.
In January 1969, before the world heard a note of their music, The MC5 was on the cover of Rolling Stone. The missing link between free jazz and punk rock, they were raw, primal, and unstoppable.
Led by legendary guitarist Wayne Kramer, The MC5 was a reflection of the times: exciting, sexy, violent, chaotic, and out of control, and all but assuring their time in the spotlight would be short-lived. Kramer wanted to redefine what a rock 'n' roll group was capable of achieving - and there was power in reaching for that - but it was also a recipe for disaster, both personally and professionally. The band recorded three major label albums: but by 1972, it was all over.
Kramer's story is a revolutionary one, but it is also the deeply personal struggle of an addict and an artist. From the glory days of Detroit to the junk-sick streets of the East Village - in and out of prison and on and off drugs - this is the classic journeyman narrative, but with a twist: Kramer is here to remind us that revolution is always an option.
There are numerous bootleg packages that contain the same material included here, a blast-through-it-once set of originals and stage staples recorded at Herouville Castle in Europe in 1972. The big ticket here is the inclusion of "Thunder Express," an original the band never officially recorded. To round things out, the disc also features "I Can Only Give You Everything" and "I Just Don't Know," both sides of the group's first single. Both "Thunder Express" and "I Can Only Give You Everything" officially appear on the single-disc Rhino best-of. ~ Cub Koda
