One day, a shepherd, while watching the sheep, saw a bush on fire. To his surprise, the bush didn't burn up. Curious, he drew closer, and there Moses heard the voice of God. He was on holy ground. One week, a father, mother, three children and a nephew went to Disney World, though they saw no bushes ablaze, wonders, lessons, and holy grounds were as abundant as the Florida sun. Read about Moses' call to Egypt alongside a family's vacation to Disney World and learn how to see holy ground all around you, anytime, everywhere, in the promised land, or the family van.

Walt Disney World is the number one family vacation destination in the world. Crowds flock to sunny Florida to soak up the rays and, with luck, a bit of pixie dust. Along with countless others, my family journeyed to this magical world with visions of Mickey and Minnie, a castle with real princesses, and rides that went beyond our imaginations. We waited excitedly for the big day when we would pass through the lands that promised us fantasy, the future, and adventure around every turn. What we found, however, was more of a world the Disney villains might have Imagineered. We encountered tremendous crowds, cranky parents, whining kids, enormous groups of teenagers, and more terrors than any tower could have caused. What we found were.the Peak Seasons. "Walt Disney World Peak Seasons: Maximizing your Disney Vacation" will help you to truly understand that although the parks may be at capacity, there is a way to maximize your vacation with little to no stress.

Harriman State Park and its smaller companion, Bear Mountain State Park, comprise New York State's second largest preserve, a wilderness as beautiful as any forest in Vermont or Maine and only 45 minutes by car from Manhattan. Think of a hiking trip to Harriman Park as a short vacation with these key attributes: scenic beauty, exercise, great food, and minimal driving time. This book profiles 10 mostly moderate loop hikes that pass the Park's most interesting or scenic highlights. The Sky Hike, for instance, offers three wonderful views of mountain lakes, a unique formation called "Ship Rock," glacially polished rock, and mysterious flooded in iron mines. The Doctors and Lawyers trek includes a cave where a bandit hid out in the late 1700s and the remains of an herb doctor's house. The Tourist Hike takes you to a waterfall, a beaver dam, caves where Native American artifacts were discovered, and an old cemetery plot on the edge of Pine Meadow lake. Unlike other outdoor books, this manuscript breaks down each hike into three to six short intervals or segments (e.g. point A to point B), promoting safety, a sense of mastery, and greater appreciation for nature's beauty. Three illustrated maps are provided for visual enjoyment and overall route planning.

New Zealand or to the native Maori Aotearoa - The Land of the Long White Cloud - is a country of natural wonders of amazing diversity. Misty mountains soar above the silent stillness of the fiords, lonely beaches of golden sands seperate the restless ocean from deep and mysterious primeval rainforests, while towering volcanoes brood above green and pastoral farmland. Arguably the best way to see this fascinating country is from the freedom of a campervan. Its a journey that must appeal to any lover of nature at its unspoilt best.

You don't need a lot of money or a luxurious motor coach to camp in awesome surroundings while exploring America. Arlene and Charles Corby did it in a pop-up camper. Four days into retirement, they left with a full tank of gas and big dreams. Their schedule was to be in Savannah for St. Paddy's Day; New Orleans for the French Quarter Festival and San Antonio for Fiesta. Their trip lasted two years and covered 50,000 miles. From the heat of the Louisiana bayous to the cool breezes of the Pacific Ocean, adventure was at every turn. They found that traveling in a pop-up camper was economical, low maintenance, and a lot of fun. Share their journey and learn how to. *Adjust to life on the road *Make your camper a home *Live 24/7 with your mate and enjoy it "This is a humorous, down-to-earth, book filled with useful information about camping life along the highways and by-ways of America. Even if you don't camp, you'll enjoy it." Frank Planes, Avid Camper and Photographer "Your enthusiasm comes through, both for travel and for life in general. Located astride the Tennessee-North Carolina border, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park contains more than one hundred trails that trace eight hundred miles of rugged terrain. This fact is certain to bewilder any newcomer who might be eager to explore the Park's backcountry but is unsure where to start. This book, intended as a beginner's guide to hiking the Smokies, offers lively, informative descriptions of twenty-two trails that can be completed in a day or less.
For anyone who has yet to discover the beauty of the Smokies, the highest North American mountains east of the Mississippi, the trails described here offer a splendid introduction. Scenic overlooks at Mount Le Conte, Clingmans Dome, Gregory Bald, and other peaks are included along these pathways, as are some of the well-known waterfalls of the Park, such as Laurel Falls, Rainbow Falls, and Ramsay Cascades. In addition to vital data about the length of the trail, its elevation gain, and "how to get there," each trail description is packed with interesting facts and Smoky Mountain lore. Detailed maps are also included. In their introduction, the authors provide a brief overview of the park's history as well as useful tips for novice hikers.
The Authors: Kenneth Wise, an administrator at the University of Tennessee Library, Knoxville, has hiked in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park for more than twenty years. He is the author of "Hiking Trails of the Great Smoky Mountains: A Comprehensive Guide."
James Andrews, a partner in the firm of Andrews, Hudson & Wall, P.C., has hiked the Park trails for more than a decade. He is the coauthor, with Wise, of "The Best Overnight Hikes in the Great Smoky Mountains."

"Whitehead, a wealthy New York attorney and avid sportsman, recounts an 1830s hunting expedition to Florida in this captivating reissue of a volume originally published in 1860. Whitehead recounts bear and turkey hunts, a panther that is caught in a pig pen, an Indian attack on a lighthouse, and various encounters with Florida pioneers. A vivid and, according to biologist Lovett Williams who provides the introduction, largely accurate depiction of a long-vanished Florida. "--"Tampa Tribune-Times"

Brought to the attention of UPF by the late Archie Carr, this sportsman's memoir of the Florida peninsula in the nineteenth century is a series of charming tales about hunting expeditions along the cracker frontier.
The Florida peninsula in the 1830s was covered by flatwoods, swamps of giant cypress, and hammocks of cabbage palm and live oak trees. The land teemed with panther, black bear, wild hogs, and white ibis. Writing with clarity and elegance, Whitehead weaves his descriptions of this landscape into an old-fashioned, hair-raising adventure story. One strand relates the affairs of an extended hunting expedition; the other stand consists of the anecdotes told by the main characters around the campfires in the evenings. The hunting and fishing practices of natives in the area, principally Seminoles, and a few rugged pioneers enhance the historical detail.
