Court decisions, this is the first such reference devoted solely to
the Supreme Court. Dating from the beginning of the Republic to the
present, these excerpts provide a powerful historical overview of
the mission and majesty of the Supreme Court. They are topically
arranged and cover the legislative, judicial, and executive
branches; states' rights; due process; free speech; equal rights;
and freedom of religion.
Each entry features the quote -- especially chosen for its
profound, compelling, and inspirational nature; the name of the
case, primary citation, year, and author; and the kind of decision
(dissenting, concurring, or opinion of the Court).
Words of wisdom from Charlie Munger, Warren Buffett's longtime
business partner, collected and interpreted with an eye towards
investing by David Clark, coauthor of the bestselling Buffettology
series. Born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1924 Charlie Munger studied
mathematics at the University of Michigan, trained as a
meteorologist at Cal Tech Pasadena while in the Army, and graduated
magna cum laude from Harvard Law School without ever earning an
undergraduate degree. Today, Munger is one of America's most
successful investors, the Vice Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, and
Warren Buffett's business partner for almost forty years. Buffett
says "Berkshire has been built to Charlie's blueprint. My role has
been that of general contractor." Munger is an intelligent,
opinionated business man whose ideas can teach professional and
amateur investors how to be successful in finance and life. Like
The Tao of Warren Buffett, The Tao of Charlie Munger is a
compendium of pithy quotes including, "Knowing what you don't know
is more useful than being brilliant" and "In my whole life, I have
known no wise people who didn't read all the time, none, zero."
This collection, culled from interviews, speeches, and questions
and answers at the Berkshire Hathaway and Wesco annual meetings,
offers insights into Munger's amazing financial success and life
philosophies. Charlie Munger's investment tips, business
philosophy, and rules for living are as unique as his life story;
intelligent as he clearly is; and as successful as he has been.

fuzzy and faithful four-legged friend? From their loyalty and
devotion to their endearing capacity to face life, work and

that they owned their dogs, instead of realizing that their dogs
owned them.' Dodie Smith, The 101 Dalmatians, 1956. 'My dog is half

Shakespeare's flame is infectious. An olympic torch, for us all, to
be enlightened, words which share the shadow and light of
humanity's hues. - LionHeart, artist, poet and BBC Radio London
presenter Shakespeare had an ear and hand that was able to capture
our everyday thoughts and emotions, pin them to a page, and express
them so well that still today they can make us feel stunned to be
seen. 'Better three hours too soon than a minute too late.' 'Make
not your thoughts your prisons.' 'Wisely and slow. They stumble
that run fast.' 'And I have heard it said, unbidden guests are
often welcomest when they're gone.' With a quote for every day of
the year, this beautiful book gathers the finest lines from the
lesser-known corners of Shakespeare's plays and poems. While you
may not be familiar with these 400-year-old phrases, you will be
surprised by the immediate, easy resonance they have with modern
day-to-day life and, hopefully, inspired to learn a few quotes, say
them out loud, and drop them into conversation. Each page bears a
gift of Shakespearean delight - around which lies a treasure trove
of trivia, miscellaneous fact, and opportunities for reflection.
The Crystals - son and father - draw attention to points of daily
life, literary, linguistic, and theatrical interest through their
entertaining commentary. They offer notes of context for anyone who
wants to know who originally said the words, in which play, and
why. And finally, the authors provide three indexes, allowing
readers to help find the right quote for a task, or to follow-up on
a quote's original source. Shakespeare's words are a mirror for us
to peer into, to see if any part of ourselves, familiar or strange,
is visible. Each day as you read his lines, you'll get glimpses of
loves you've known, jealousies you've felt, relationships you've
had, and situations you've encountered that bring a smile - or a
wince - of familiarity. Everyday Shakespeare shares the simple
lines that encapsulate the wondrous complexity of life, and the
enduring appeal of the Bard. Shakespeare was not of an age, but for
all time. - Ben Jonson

Cesar Abraham Vallejo Mendoza (Santiago de Chuco, 1892-1938,
Paris). Peru. Sus padres eran Francisco de Paula Vallejo Benitez y
Maria de los Santos Mendoza Gurrionero. Fue el menor de once
hermanos.
Jose Carlos Mariategui. Por entonces profundizo en sus estudios de
marxismo.

Everything you ever wanted to know about beer but were too busy
drinking it to ask. The Little Book of Beer is a light-hearted,
irreverent but also informative book that celebrates beer culture.
The book should be something that enlightens the reader while also
leaving them foaming (pun intended) at the month at the mere
thought of going for a pint. It will show how beer is one of the
great unifiers, a drink almost as old as time, and it is something
that brings people together and makes them happy. While it
celebrates how beer has influenced popular culture and vice versa,
it avoids falling into obvious traps of beer snobbery or elitism.
'You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline
- it helps if you have some kind of football team, or some nuclear
weapons, but in the very least you need a beer.' Frank Zappa. 'When
all else fails, there is music. When that fails you, there is
beer.' James Hauenstein.
We're not implying anything but... It's time for a bit of
no-nonsense advice in the form of some choice expletive-laden life
lessons. This small but f*cking mighty tome is just the tonic to
set you on the path to being an awesome human, and will teach YOU
how not to be a D*CK.
Felix Lope de Vega y Carpio (Madrid, 1562-Madrid, 1635). Espana.
a Madrid.
escribir.
'The greatest writer of his time.' (George Orwell) The author of 20
much-loved novels and novellas, Charles Dickens combined humour and
pathos to explore Victorian society in all its shades. Widely
praised for his rich narratives and larger-than-life characters, he
was not only a celebrity author but also an admired social
reformer. Moving from the refined drawing rooms of the upper
classes to the horrors of the workhouse or the filthy back streets
of London, Dickens' writings shone a light on the harsh
inequalities of the times. The Little Book of Charles Dickens
showcases wonderful quotes from the author's writings, alongside
fascinating facts about his life and achievements. By turns witty,
comic, insightful and wise, this delightful volume is a fitting
tribute to a literary giant. SAMPLE QUOTE: 'It is said that the
children of the very poor are not brought up, but dragged up.'
Bleak House SAMPLE FACT: When Dickens was 12 years old, his father
was sent to a debtor's prison. Forced to become the family's main
breadwinner, the young Dickens worked at Warren's Blacking Factory,
where he was paid a pittance for pasting labels onto bottles of
shoe polish.
