Sandro Botticelli (born Alessandro di Mariano di Vanni Filipepi in 1445 and died in 1510) had the patronage of the (in)famous Lorenzo de' Medici, and the two works considered his masterpieces, "The Birth of Venus" and "Primavera" have become so popular that they have achieved cliche status when trying to represent Renaissance art in Florence, Italy.
