2015 Best Book Award from the Communal Studies Association The captivating story of the people of Heaven's Gate, a religious group focused on transcending humanity and the Earth, and seeking salvation in the literal heavens on board a UFO In March 1997, thirty-nine people in Rancho Santa Fe, California, ritually terminated their lives. To outsiders, it was a mass suicide. To insiders, it was a graduation. This act was the culmination of over two decades of spiritual and social development for the members of Heaven's Gate. In this fascinating overview, Benjamin Zeller not only explores the question of why the members of Heaven's Gate committed ritual suicides, but interrogates the origin and evolution of the religion, its appeal, and its practices. By tracking the development of the history, social structure, and worldview of Heaven's Gate, Zeller draws out the ways in which the movement was both a reflection and a microcosm of larger American culture. The group emerged out of engagement with Evangelical Christianity, the New Age movement, science fiction and UFOs, and conspiracy theories, and it evolved in response to the religious quests of baby boomers, new religions of the counterculture, and the narcissistic pessimism of the 1990s. Thus, Heaven's Gate not only reflects the context of its environment, but also reveals how those forces interacted in the form of a single religious body. In the only book-length study of Heaven's Gate, Zeller traces the roots of the movement, examines its beliefs and practices, and tells the captivating story of its people.

The Book of the Damned has inspired scientists, science fiction writers, moviemakers, and devotees for almost a hundred years. CHARLES HOY FORT (1874-1932), life-long naturalist and independent journalist, wrote ten novels, though only one, The Outcast Manufacturers (1906), was published in the U.S. - critics said it was ahead of its time, but it was deemed commercially unsuccessful. Upon his death in 1932, more than 60,000 notes were donated to The New York Public Library.

The Road to Qua Qua Farm is an inspirational story of a young couple living on a hippie commune in the early 1970's. Together with a small band of Hippies from Cambridge, Massachusetts, they moved to the back woods of Nova Scotia, Canada. The Old Weagle Farm was over one-hundred years old, run down, and in need of major repair. This farm would be the ideal place to begin, because it allowed them to live communally in a healthy environment, free from the norms, and values they had grown accustomed to. They would have an opportunity to create, and shape their very own community, influenced by their own imaginations. No longer dependent on society to achieve these freedoms, they would learn to live off the land, barter for things they could not provide for themselves, and create a new society within itself. They would face challenges they could never have imagined. Daily living was pushed to the limits with the absence of electricity, indoor plumbing, and central heating. Determined to break the mold for the American Dream once, and for all, their journey led them to this place, and they were determined to find out why Their Quest was spiritual in nature, and they would soon discover the dusty road leading to the farm was just the beginning of a journey to awaken their souls, and satisfy the emptiness within their hearts. It would be a quest toward the King and His Kingdom The Road to Qua Qua Farm will compel you to pursue a journey of discovering for yourself. These true life stories will inspire, guide, encourage, and help you achieve the hopes, dreams, and purposes for your life.
Without asking, there can be no answer. "A Woman's Path to Peace" provides a common background within which the reader can explore the familiar yet challenging elements of the journey of awakening. Eclectic yet grounded in the simple ordinariness of an average middle class lifestyle, this book acts as a bridge between where we 'are' in our humanness, and where the Real World is. Topics such as pets, kids, and energy healing are explored within the context of every day life, poignant in its simplicity and raw in its intimacy. Touching essays are scattered throughout the book to provide the reader with real life examples of how Spirit reveals itself in the simplest of moments.
Love Within begins with a story about how humanity was created. Then, prophecy regarding the path of love and path of destruction is discussed. The Storyteller then explains how thoughts create and how to recreate them. Many examples and processes are offered to release emotional debris (stuck emotions). This story will help guide humanity out of the unconscious created world into the future Age of Consciousness and into new heights of love, truth, and freedom from illusion. It offers you an opportunity to become enlightened; it will help you remember who you are by simply realizing there is more to life. There are photographs within this book in which a sphere (image) was taken without the photographers knowledge. Jesus states, It is the Light within all things that has a resemblance of an end and a beginning. Yet, it is over-expansive, all e-embracing, for if the image were to be inhaled it would fit within the eye of a needle. Yet, if it were to be exhaled it would encompass beyond what the mind could conceive, for there is not a beginning and there is no end to the Light. It is who you are.

God came to give messages to a child that "He" did not exist in the figures of gods and goddesses, which people worshipped around him.Instead, God explained that "He" existed as a mystery, hidden from the world, who could not be seen, felt or touched by any one. Since then the child developed a secret friendship with God. However, there was an understanding between the child and God that the child will not divulge this secret encounter with the Divine to anyone in the outside world. When he stepped into adulthood, God started revealing Himself in a different way: In the same physical body two different existences started emerging. One was bound to the will and ego-bound mind, with whom he could identify himself as a person, while on the other side, there existed a Divine Being, who could penetrate the physical state and incarnate in a physical body - a phenomenon which could not be grasped by the human intellect. Later in life, as a highly creative person, with wide knowledge in many fields of science and arts, he grappled to understand these personal experiences, which defy all scientific knowledge and reason. The book throws lights on the questions: "Do these experiences represent a case of a brain damage, resulting in wrong neural circuitry, which generate the messages of God in the mind, or does there truly exist God, who is beyond intellectual comprehension of even a very sophisticated human mind? Without finding any convincing answer, a nuclear scientist and a cosmologist, after undergoing intense dilemma and conflicts for more than fifty years, remains at bay. On one hand this book reveals a hidden world, which has disturbed, puzzled and created agony and despair, while on the other hand it has illumined the mind with knowledge and vision, not accessible through intellectual process of the mind. It is a story of pain and joy, suffering followed by profound ebullience of a spirit which is one with the cosmos and resides in us.

David Wilcock's extensive knowledge of contemporary science has led him to rewrite the Mayan myth; 2012 will not be the end of the world, but will be the start of mankind's golden period. A hidden intelligence, a living energy field that the universe is built from, which David Wilcock calls the Source Field, guides mankind's destiny. David Wilcock has studied this intelligence for over thirty years and has come to understand that the Source Field is the key to unlocking the mysteries mankind have always struggled to answer: who are we, how did we get here and where are we going?
