From modern pop culture to anti-Blackness, faith and family,
politics, education, creativity and working life; this anthology
gives visibly Muslim women a space to speak. SPOILER ALERT: We
won't be answering the usual questions! Perceived as the visual
representation of Islam, hijab-wearing Muslim women are
nevertheless rarely afforded a platform on their own terms.
Harangued by awkward questions, radical commentators
sensationalising our existence, non-Muslims and non-hijabis making
assumptions, men speaking on our behalf, or stereotypical norms
being perpetuated by the same old faces, hijabis are tired. Cut
from the Same Cloth? seeks to tip the balance back in our favour.
Here, twenty-one women of all ages and races look beyond the tired
tropes, exploring the breadth of our experience and spirituality.
It's time we, as a society, stop with the hijab-splaining and make
space for the women who know. Essays by Negla Abdalla, Zahra Adams,
Sabeena Akhtar, Mariam Ansar, Fatima Ahdash, Shaista Aziz, Suma
Din, Khadijah Elshayyal, Ruqaiya Haris, Raisa Hassan, Fatha Hassan,

Unleash Your Potential: Put Any Foot Forward presents a clarion
call for us to awaken the gifts within us. Everyone has a gift, and
the truth is that if we don't use them, they will be taken away,
and we lose the joy of fulfilling God's purpose in our lives. We
must learn how to unleash our potential, to put any foot forward
through motivation and encouragement. We have been crippled for so
long by our circumstances, our fears, our past failures, and
mistakes, but now, author Dr. Darlington I. I. Ndubuike encourages
us to heed the command of the Lord to move ahead When God provides
us with opportunities, we have to take that first STEP: Seize the
opportunity. Take action by faith. Encourage ourselves in the Lord.
Prayerfully follow God's lead. We cannot be intimidated by our
circumstances. We must hold our heads up and keep our shoulders
high. We must position ourselves to unleash our potential without
losing focus, with the understanding that nothing good comes easy.
It takes time and effort, but your dream is attainable."
Japonica F. Edmonds Smith is a seasoned writer of poetry, prose,
and inspirational short stories. In God's now latter blessings rain
I shall continue to seek the Father in order to give His people
divine revelation in their thoughts as well as in their walk within
their lives. It is the Father Jehovah that inspires us spiritually
to draw the reader inward, in order to have an intimate walk within
our heart to walk with Him. It is without question that it is God
who awakens one's heart to seek His son, Jesus. It is He that wants
His plan and purpose to be fulfilled in our lives and to show us
that in the midst of life trials, there is still a word from the
Father. God has always been concerned about you, the saints of God
in Christ Jesus. He loves you with an everlasting love. He showed
humanity His agape love, when He thought it not robbery to give His
Son, Jesus, to take our place, by being on the cross. That was
designed for the sins of humanity ... each and every one of us
individually Thank God for His Son We have been redeemed by His
blood IT IS FINISHED His immeasurable love raised Jesus from the
dead. Hallelujah For He sent forth His Son that we might have life
and life that more abundantly, so that we will have true intimacy,
fellowship, communion, and relationship with Jesus. After all is
said and done, after we have repented, we shall have true
forgiveness from our sins, thereby receiving healing, growth, and
restoration for ourselves as we restore love to one another with
forgiveness With the sword of the spirit in my mouth, I decree as
well as command, that I am a victorious woman of God, without any
constraints to do the will of the Father Jehovah in Jesus' name.
Amen It is God's will for all the saints of God to seek and to save
those who are lost-to teach the found to go after the lost, so that
all shall be saved and none perish.
There is a revolution happening right now all over the world as
believers in Jesus Christ are rediscovering the words of Jesus: "I
came to reveal the Father" (John 1:18). When you learn to live life
with an awareness of and attention to the Father's presence,
everything changes. Believers move from religion to relationship.
Faith in God shifts from duty to an exciting journey.
Imagine you could live with a supernatural confidence that your
Father in heaven loves you, is all-powerful, and is always with you
How would that change your life? What if you also discovered you
could hear His voice and feel His presence every day? This book was
written to encourage every believer to walk in this reality.
The Father's Heart consists of personal stories from author
Caleb Plumb's life. He details triumphs and mistakes of attempting
to live on fire for God. He pulls back the curtain to his prayer
life, dreams, visions, and supernatural encounters with a desire to
inspire others to pursue the presence of God.
He writes in the spirit of Jeremiah 29:13: "You will seek me and
find me when you seek me with all of your heart."
The book will have two different messages with seven stages of
change in the life of the author. The author believes that her
journey started at the age of fourteen. 1960: the journey of the
heart was the first stage of seven years marked as Destiny of
Love.... the talk of the soul kept the body and the mind in full
blast.. when she discovered her realty in dreams come true she

of human kind)..... The voice of Eve emerged like a song in the
heart of the believer. could it be synergy Revolutions of the
heart, the mind and genders(body). 2001 seven of sevens: Peace

This title offers an insight into key contemporary global issues
relating to the lives and experiences of young Muslims. Many Muslim
societies, regardless of location, are displaying a 'youth bulge',
where more than half their populations are under the age of 25. An
increasingly globalized western culture is rapidly eroding
'traditional' ideas about society, from the family to the state. At
the same time, there is a view that rampant materialism is creating
a culture of spiritual emptiness in which demoralization and
pessimism easily find root. For young Muslims these challenges may
be compounded by a growing sense of alienation as they face
competing ideologies and divergent lifestyles. Muslim youth are
often idealized as the 'future of Islam' or stigmatized as
rebelling against their parental values and suffering 'identity
crises'. These experiences can produce both positive and negative
reactions, from intellectual engagement and increasing spiritual
maturity to emotional rejectionism, narrow identity politics and
violent extremism. This book addresses many of the central issues
currently facing young Muslims in both localized and globalized
contexts through engaging with the work of academics, youth work
practitioners and those working in non-governmental organizations
and civic institutions.
An introduction to the ways in which ordinary Muslim Americans
practice their faith. Muslims have always been part of the United
States, but very little is known about how Muslim Americans
practice their religion. How do they pray? What's it like to go on
pilgrimage to Mecca? What rituals accompany the birth of a child, a
wedding, or the death of a loved one? What holidays do Muslims
celebrate and what charities do they support? How do they learn
about the Qur'an? The Practice of Islam in America introduces
readers to the way Islam is lived in the United States, offering
vivid portraits of Muslim American life passages, ethical actions,
religious holidays, prayer, pilgrimage, and other religious
activities. It takes readers into homes, religious congregations,
schools, workplaces, cemeteries, restaurants-and all the way to
Mecca-to understand the diverse religious practices of Muslim
Americans. Going beyond a theoretical discussion of what Muslims
are supposed to do, this volume focuses on what they actually do.
As the volume reveals, their religious practices are shaped by
their racial and ethnic identity, their gender and sexual
orientation, and their sectarian identity, among other social
factors. Readers gain practical information about Islamic religion
while also coming to understand how the day-to-day realities of
American life shape Muslim American practice.
Happy trails to you until we meet again Having lived in the
heart of the Kettle Moraine forest most of my adult life I have
enjoyed riding my horse on the beautiful trails. I have sought to
find answers for the disappointment and heartbreak I experienced
through out so many years. If you are reading this book, you are
holding in your hands the story of my life. I don't have any
worldly accomplishments in front or behind my name but what I do
have is the experience of wanting to be a great daughter, wife and
mother. Wanting this and having this become a reality was two
different things. The years spent both as a young girl and a young
woman with many emotions to deal with caused me to have a very low
self esteem. It was the brokenness that brought me to my knees on
that cold January day.
Isaiah 61 clearly talks about God's desire for us. He has come
to heal the broken hearted, proclaim liberty to the captives and to
set the bound free.
We often get consumed and emotionally damaged by all of the pain
that has hit our lives. We tend to run to different things to
fulfill us and make us whole in God, when all we really need is God
himself. God wants us to heal emotionally in him and live freely in
His presence. He loves us, and desires for us to intimately know
him. Come on a journey with Brittney Perillo as she unravels what
healing in God can look like from many perspectives, but all
yielding the same result, wholeness in Him. There will be stories
of women from the Bible as well as stories from modern day women
that have been hurt and lost in their own pain or pain caused by
others and found healing in God.
God will change your life through this book. Seek God's face all
the way to your own personal healing journey with Him.
The role of human sacrifice in the ancient Mediterranean world and
its implications continue to be topics that fire the popular
imagination and engender scholarly discussion and controversy. This
volume aims to advance the discussion by providing balanced and
judicious treatments of the various facets of these topics from a
cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural perspective. It provides
nuanced examinations of ancient ritual, exploring the various
meanings that human sacrifice held for antiquity, and examines its
varied repercussions up into the modern world. The book explores
evidence to shed new light on the origins of the rite, to whom
these sacrifices were offered, and by whom they were performed. It
presents fresh insights into the social and religious meanings of
this practice in its varied biblical landscape and ancient
contexts, and demonstrates how human sacrifice has captured the
imagination of later writers who have employed it in diverse
cultural and theological discourses to convey their own views and
ideologies. It provides valuable perspectives for understanding key
cultural, theological and ideological dimensions, such as the
sacrifice of Christ, scapegoating, self-sacrifice and martyrdom in
post-biblical and modern times.
Carolyn and her husband Herbert came from two different worlds. She
from a small town in West Virginia, and he from a small village in
East Prussia. They each experienced a different kind of life during
World War II. Herbert escaped death by the Russians, and the only
act of war Carolyn saw was selling war bonds and standing in line
for nylons for her mother until the telegraph came. Carolyn's
father was severely injured during a raid over Tokyo and would
never be the same. Herbert's family did not know if his father was
dead or alive for the three years they were in a refugee camp after
fleeing from the Russians.
