The relevance of Bruce Watt’s intensely personal account of a family tragedy extends far beyond the suffering of those who have had a similar experience. Since the very act of parenthood challenges mortality, sharing in his brutally frank and sincere account of loss should be more than just a reactive search for comfort. It calls for proactive engagement. Apart from being a compelling read about a specific human experience, his story not only challenges one to understand more fully what it means to be a human being.
